They speak a Turkic language, called Azerice and The Turks in Turkey and Azeris understand eachother very well, except in Azeri, there are more Russian and Persian words.

in the west and northwest of Iran, Turkish( or Turkic and Azeri) is spoken wide and in most of the cities in the west, Shiraz, Tebriz, Esfahan, Urumiya, everyone speaks Azeri/Turkish.

i will not discuss that today's Iran owes much to Turks otherwise you would not see an Iran today but an arabic-speking country.

Azeris speak a Turkic language no doubt, but their culture and family ties are overwhelmingly Iranian. They are also Shia because of Iran's influence.

And Turks didn't shape Iran, they simply were assimilated into Iranian culture and thus continued the Iranian civilization. The Supreme Leader of Iran is an Azeri... but you can't argue the fact that he is definitely Iranian, and not a Turk.
