Good observation Haykakan. It is all speculations at this time but we already knew that this jet will incorporate stealth features and most probably will be close to the F-22. Normally a lot of radar signature reductions redesigns get completed during actual test flights. One of the many reasons why the aircraft is not being produced in numbers yet and why it will not be ready for delivery for several years.

For example the picture bellow shows how different the prototype YF-22 looks from the current operational F-22.

Russian FM acknowledges "Iran's legitimate security concerns"


Munich, Feb 6, IRNA -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on
Saturday called on western countries to take "Iran's legitimate
security concerns" seriously.

"Iran has legitimate security concerns, no doubt about it," Lavrov
said in his remarks to the Munich Security Conference.

"Iran was attacked a couple of times in recent history. Iran did not
attack anybody," he added.

Lavrov linked the settlement of the Iranian nuclear dispute to
resolving other crises hotspots in the Middle East, among them
Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon.

"We cannot afford tackling the Iranian nuclear program in isolation by
ignoring what is going around this region, including between Israel
and the Arab states," he added.

Meanwhile, the Russian official urged the international community "to
find a technical fix" to the issue of the Tehran research reactor.

"It could really make a difference and could really create a new
atmosphere," Lavrov said.

He emphasized that a long-term solution to the Iranian nuclear
stalemate should take into account the overall Mideast security
architecture.

Russias man wins in yukrain-so much for collor revolutions. Georgia is going down next and the azeris will fade quietly into the night. Nobody does it like Russia, they put everyone in their place in a cool collective methodical manner. With youkrain back in moscows orbit, the rest of the collor revolutions will be no more and we can thank armenias leadership for resisting the likes of levon and not letting the country slide into chaos like it happened in the other states.

Actually the beauty of the elections was that both candidates were favorable for Russia. Tymoshenko hasn't conceded defeat yet either, so things can still get rocky.

Armenian Town Hails Ukraine Poll Outcome


Residents of Spitak, a small town in northern Armenia, are going to send a letter of congratulations to Ukraine to express their joy to Victor Yanukovich.

Yanukovich, an honorary citizen of Spitak, the town in which he led a rescue and rehabilitation effort by a Ukrainian group in the days following a devastating earthquake more than two decades ago, won a majority of votes in the runoff of Ukraine’s presidential election held last Sunday. (He was declared Spitak’s honorary citizen in 2004).

Spitak’s vice-mayor Anahit Gyulazian has already completed the text of the congratulatory message.

Almost everyone in Spitak, who are rejoicing at the victory of the Ukrainian, know Yanukovich, former prime minister of Ukraine and the leader of the Party of Regions. He was in their town only a year and a half ago to see his fellow townsmen and the town itself that was razed to the ground in the devastating earthquake in 1988 but was restored in recent years.

Yanukovich was not only pronounced honorary citizen of Spitak. This town also has a square named after him. In the presence of Yanukovich the Spitak authorities in 2008, on the 20th anniversary of the earthquake, renamed a central square after the Ukrainian politician.

Now the authorities are going to make repairs of Yanukovich square.

The Spitak folk got to know Yanukovich first 21 years ago. During the days after the December 7, 1988 earthquake a production unit, Donbastransremont, headed by Yanukovich conducted rescue and rehabilitation work in the earthquake-hit town.

Sergey Sahakian, who was head of the Ideology Department of Spitak’s district committee back then, now shows the territory, where the winning candidate in the Ukrainian presidential vote lived for six months in the late 1980s.

Recalling the days of the disaster, Sahakian tells about a group of young Ukrainian rescuers who came to Armenia under Yanukovich’s leadership.

The people of Spitak not only feel happy for their honorary fellow townsman, but they also consider his victory useful for themselves.

Great stuff! Georgia might be the last of the collor revolutions to cave in but it is inevitable. These are huge gains for russia with hardly any cost to it. Putin simply kicks ass.

Russia might deploy S-400 air defense system in CIS states

Russia might deploy S-400 air defense systems in CIS states if the political decision is made, said First Deputy Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Vadim Volkovitsky, RIA Novosti reports.

“By decision of political leadership, the system might be deployed everywhere,” he stated.

According to him, S-400 might be used in the frames of unified system of collective security and CIS anti-air defense.

Medvedev declared Saakashvili persona non grata

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is a persona non grata in Russia, said RF President Dmitry Medvedev at the joint press conference with his Abkhazian counterpart Sergei Bagapsh on Feb. 17, Vesti reports.

According to Medvedev, sooner or later Russia and Georgia will restore normal full-fledged relations and bitter conflict of 2008 will not damage friendly relations between our nations.

At that, Russian president emphasized that will not deal with incumbent Georgian president.

He recalled that incumbent Georgian president is fully responsible for the conflict that claimed lives, who is a “persona non grata” for Russia. “Based on constitutional procedures Georgian people should decide on their own who can rule their country, who is capable of bringing Georgia to prosperity and normal friendly relations with neighboring countries – with Russian Federation and Republic of Abkhazia,” Medvedev concluded.

Great news. This is Armenia's way of endorsing Yanukovych (friend of Armenia since 1988 earthquake) and Ukraine's new pro-Russian shift.

RA President to attend inauguration of Ukrainian President



RA President Serzh Sargsyan will attend the new Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych’s inauguration ceremony, RA Presidential Press Secretary informed NEWS.am.

“Prosperous Armenia” Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan, Adviser to RA President Andranik Manukyan and RA Ambassador to Ukraine Armen Khachatryan will escort him.

On February 14, Leader of oppositional “Party of Regions” Viktor Yanukovych was declared president-elect with 48.95% of the votes. He won the elections by a 3.5% margin over incumbent Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

The ceremony of inauguration will be held on February 25, 2010.

Georgia and Russia have re-opened their only usable land border crossing for traffic and trade for the first time in four years.

The border post, in the Caucasus town of Kazbegi in Georgia, opened to traffic on Monday at 7am (0300GMT) after a brief, pre-dawn ceremony.

"The Daryal checkpoint, which was closed for several years, had been officially opened today," Georgy Gegechkori, a local police chief, told reporters.

The crossing runs through a narrow pass in the Caucasus mountains, about 170km from Tbilisi, the Georgian capital.

It was closed in 2006 after tensions between Russia and Georgia escalated in a situation that eventually led to a five-day war in 2008.

Tensions between the two sides reached a flashpoint in August 2008, when Russian forces poured into Georgia to repel a Georgian military attempt to retake South Ossetia, which had received extensive backing from Moscow for years.

Russia later mostly withdrew to within South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which Moscow recognised as independent states in August 2008.

'No warming ties'

The crossing is the only land border point that does not go through South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

But Nino Kalandadze, Georgia's deputy foreign minister, said the move "does not mean [a] warming" in ties with Moscow.

"The opening of the crossing will not have significant economic or political consequences for Georgia," the AFP news agency quoted Kalandadze as saying.

"But it is a positive fact that the differences between Georgia and Russia did not impede the opening."

He said Georgia's consent to the re-opening was "motivated exclusively by our will to give a helping hand to our neighbour Armenia".

The closing of the crossing dealt a heavy blow to Armenia, which relied on the crossing as its only overland route to Russia, the country's key economic partner.
