- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

          Justice Yes,

          Protocols No!

On August 31st, the Foreign Ministries of Turkey and Armenia issued a framework for ongoing negotiations -- a set of dangerous "protocols" which, if adopted, would compromise the truth of the Armenian Genocide, undermine the right of the Armenian nation to a just resolution of this crime, and threaten the very security and future viability of Armenia.

          Turkey-Armenia Protocols: The Facts

The Protocols surrender the rights of all Armenians and threaten the security of Armenia and Artsakh.

They commit to "territorial integrity and inviolability of frontiers,"
a clear indication of support for Azerbaijan's flawed and baseless claim to
Artsakh, without any mention of the right to self-determination.

The protocol confirms "the existing border between the two countries as defined by the relevant treaties." This is a clear reference to the illegal seizure of Armenia lands before, during and after the Armenian Genocide. The theft of these lands should not be accepted, nor should any steps be taken that prevent the return of these territories to Armenia as part of a just resolution of the Armenian Genocide.

The protocol emphasizes "their [Turkey and Armenia] decision to open the common border." This implies that the border was closed based on mutual agreement, when, in fact, Turkey has unilaterally and illegally blockaded Armenia since 1993.

The protocol commits to "refrain from pursuing any policy incompatible with the spirit of good neighborly relations." This provision will be interpreted by Turkey to mean that Armenia will no longer support international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The rights of each Diasporan community to advocate for their rights cannot be compromised. It is not only our right, but our obligation to press for international recognition of the Genocide.

The protocol calls for the creation of an historical commission to "define existing problems." The existing problem is the unresolved crime of Genocide. Turkey seeks to secure Armenia's approval for a document that would downgrade the Armenian Genocide from a profound international moral challenge to a bilateral point for negotiations.

Toronto Armenians Unite in Opposition to Protocols

TORONTO—More than 400 members of the Toronto Armenian community gathered at the Armenian Community Centre on Friday, September 4 to learn more about the recently negotiated protocols for the normalization of relations between the Republics of Turkey and Armenia and to protect the rights of the Armenian people. The public gathering was jointly organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation “Soghomon Tehlirian” chapter, the Social Democrat Hunchak Party Canadian Regional Executive and the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party (Ramgavar) Canadian Regional Executive.

The gathering featured a video presentation of ARF Bureau member Hagop Der Khatchadourian, who provided background on the protocols, expected future developments and the risks involved in the ratification of the protocols. Following the video presentation, the evening’s Master of Ceremonies Hagop Tchakmakian introduced Levon Hasserjian, who spoke about the threats posed by the protocols to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the rights of future generations of Armenians and the continued existence of the Nagarno-Karabakh Republic and it’s people’s right of self determination.

Following Hasserjian’s presentation, the floor was opened to questions. The questions and comments were generally reflective of the genuine worry of Toronto Armenians about the policies of the current Armenian administration in pursuing relations with the Republic of Turkey and the price that the Armenian people would pay for these decisions.

In order to ensure that the concerns of Toronto Armenians were presented to the Armenian authorities, it was decided that a formal protest declaration should be prepared by the attendees of the gathering and formally presented to the government of Armenia. After much discussion, the attendees agreed on the following declaration:

“Provisions in the Protocols indicate preconditions set forth by Turkey and conflict with the interests of Armenia and Armenians on the whole. The project obviously tends to prevent the restoration of historical rights and rupture Armenians. Ratification of the Protocols by the countries’ parliaments will be a deterrent for Armenians to claim their ancestral land as well as recognition of the Armenian Genocide (at that all achievements on the international level will be jeopardized). In addition, the possibilities of Armenia to negotiate on Karabakh peace process will be limited.

This project arising out of its authors’ interests is full of dangerous consequences for the centuries-long struggle of Armenians for independence. We, participants of the meeting call Armenian Authorities, National Assembly and Armenian nation to reject the project will all preconditions and pursue the policy of preconditions’ exclusion in normalization of bilateral relations.”

The attendees also promised to keep abreast of further developments regarding the protocols and to stand firm against any attempts by the government of Armenia to imperil the future of the Armenian people.

Dashnaks Stage More Protests Against Turkey-Armenia Deal

Carrying banners and chanting “No concession to Turkey!” the protesters also demanded that the Armenian government accept specific amendments to the two protocols put forward by the nationalist party.

One of the amendments wants the protocols to explicitly state that Armenia and Turkey are normalizing their relations “without preconditions.” Another relates to the planned formation of a Turkish-Armenian inter-governmental “sub-commission” tasked with studying the 1915-1918 mass killings and deportations of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.

Dashnaktsutyun is strongly opposed to such a study, saying that Ankara would use it to discourage more countries from recognizing the massacres as genocide. It says the sub-commission in question should instead promote a “dialogue aimed restoring mutual trust between the two peoples.”

The proposed changes were swiftly circulated in Armenia’s parliament. “We expect the deputies to at least familiarize themselves these proposals and take them seriously,” Hrayr Karapetian, a Dashnaktsutyun lawmaker, told RFE/RL.

The initial reaction of leaders of the parliament’s pro-government majority was less than positive. Galust Sahakian, the parliamentary leader of President Serzh Sarkisian’s Republican Party (HHK), said Dashnaktsutyun’s concerns are “unacceptable” to the HHK.

“I don’t think that these are very serious proposals,” said Heghine Bisharian of the Orinats Yerkir Party, a junior partner in Sarkisian’s governing coalition. “We support the country’s president and the protocols that exist today,” she told RFE/RL.

Only the opposition Zharangutyun party voiced support for Dashnaktsutyun’s initiative. The two opposition forces hold between them only two dozen seats in the 131-member National Assembly. Observers say Sarkisian should therefore have little trouble securing the mandatory parliamentary approval of the Turkish-Armenian protocols.

Meanwhile, some 50 Dashnaktsutyun members camped outside the Armenian prime minister’s office in Yerevan’s main square, while 24 others began a collective hunger strike outside the nearby Foreign Ministry building. The hunger strike will have a largely symbolic character, though, as participants said that they and other Dashnaktsutyun members will take turns in refusing food for two days.

“We demand that the government abandon plans to sign the Turkish-Armenian protocols,” one of the protesters told RFE/RL. “We hope that our authorities have retained a little common sense.”

“We demand our lost homeland,” said another. “We demand that they don’t betray our feelings for the lost homeland.”

It was an apparent reference to another key provision one of the protocols that commits Armenia to explicitly recognizing its existing border with Turkey. Dashnkatsutyun has strongly objected to it.

Police officers at the scene did not attempt to impede or end the protest which Dashnaktsutyun leaders said will last until the end of a six-week period set by the authorities in Ankara and Yerevan for “internal political consultations” on the highly sensitive matter. Vahan Hovannisian, a Dashnaktsutyun leader, claimed that unlike their Turkish counterparts, Armenia’s leaders have still not initiated such discussions in earnest.

“Unfortunately what is happening in Turkey is not happening in Armenia,” Hovannisian told journalists. “There has been no [official] discussion at any level. That certainly arouses our discontent. We are concerned that they are trying to keep the society away from politics.”

President Sarkisian plans to meet the leaders of dozens of Armenian political parties and discuss with them his Western-backed policy towards Turkey on Thursday. Hovannisian confirmed that he and other Dashnaktsutyun leaders will attend the meeting.

Dozens of members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) began non-stop sit-ins outside two key government buildings in Yerevan on Tuesday in protest against the recently publicized agreements on the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations. (UPDATED)

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ On September 27, Armenians in Glendale (U.S.) will conduct a rally to protest Protocols on normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. Over the weekend the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US Central Committee met with leaders of the Social Democratic Hunchakian Party, the United Young Armenian. This meeting reinforced that the main political forces in the community are opposed to provisions of the Protocols, which they believe will endanger Armenia’s national security and violate the nation’s historical rights, Asbarez.com reports.

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Hunger strike against Armenian-Turkish Protocols will last 4 weeks, ARFD Supreme Body representative Armen Rustamyan told journalists. He finds that people are not closely familiar with documents and do not see its disadvantages that may reflect on young generation, ARFD’s principal goal is to reveal document contents to people.

ARFD Dashnaktsutyun has started a rally and hunger strike near Foreign Ministry and Government buildings as sign of protest against Protocols on Normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. Protesters hold posters reading, “No Preconditions!”, “No Acceptance, No Concessions, Protest!”. There is also a stand containing ARFD’s demands proposed to be included in Armenian-Turkish Protocols.

Initially 24 individuals, including ARFD’s youth wing representatives and Supreme Body members were reported on hunger strike.

Yeah? Are you assuming that they can't? Whether they can or can't... why is your concern?

turkey is playing the same dirty politik with Armenia's government that they played against Greece's government and Cyprus. Only Greece's government fell for it and turkey won.
