After being here for few days I can say I am glad I found this place. See, I was born of Armenian parents but was not as fortunate as most of you that live or lived in California, Boston, Michigan or Toronto where there is big Armenian population, schools or even Armenian girls to date and marry. Where I was brought up; an Armenian community did not exist back then. I attended American Public schools. So couple of things I was fascinated about on this site. The historical information I learn about for the first time, and the people that seem to be qualified to read someone’s post and decide if they were Armenian or not. Now most of the historical information is backed up by links or resources. But I can’t find any evidence that supports the qualification of these individuals to tell who is Armenian and who is not. Then I started wondering, really, what is it that makes one Armenian? What are the criteria and rules? And are they written somewhere or is it just someone’s opinion on what does it take to be Armenian?
I should really say this is not for me. I know what my family and I are. This is for those that are coming here to connect with us, to find an answer to there heritage and being disseminated against by their own.
