Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

So he started swearing, in englarmenian ( english and armenian ) Than, he noticed a bumper sticker on the driver's car. It was of the turkish flag. This juts set my father off even more. He said " Motherxxxxing Turk!" and a few other things I couldn't catch. My friend, who is not armenian, seemed appalled by that and I think he thinks my family are racists now.

    So , a question ...
does this make my dad racist?
And, if I still hold a " grudge " against turks and prefer not to associate with them, does that make me one aswell?

I admittedly decided to act the same way as soon as I was old enough to understand what kind of damage the turks still cause and how it effects my peoples' lives. I do not associate with them and sometimes, with my pathetic attempts at humour, even get insulting. But I never saw myself as racist. I know I have a reason for acting the way I do and that my behaviour is simply the result of the turkish peoples' inability to acknowledge the truth, even if it is undeniable and based on historic facts. In some way I feel as if my actions are justified, especially when I come across a turk (hard not to in Germany) who spreads ignorant lies without even trying to be civil.
I don't think you are racist if you insult those who deny you any justice.
You hate them because they are part of a nation, that has done you harm in so many ways. I just thought I'd through my two bits in

Good stuff, man. Even if they don't take it down, its good to make it known why people don't like it.

Ah, this is what I was trying to get at... that its fine if we dislike certain people, we can even consider many people our enemies based on their myopic views about our nation, but hating entire groups is not productive for us. Hate, just like any other emotion, is devoid of reason, and will only work to blind us in the long run.

To take a large and diverse group of people such as Turks and to put them in one or two clean-cut groups, is to not only do an injustice to our national cause by forcing neutral Turks to fear us and support their own criminals, it also does an injustice to logic to hate such a large group. They are not a homogenous bloc with one viewpoint and one opinion. We should always confront those who threaten us, and yes they exist in the millions, but we should also teach those who are ignorant, and we should support those who share our principles.

Thats why I never liked ideologies, such as "hating Turks", or any ideology for that matter. It restricts people to a very narrow intellectual prism, and practically speaking, it confines people to one or two options, when in reality we can create and use many different options simultaneously. Ideologies are not flexible, and when the situation gets too strenuous, the ideology will break.

The only important thing to always keep constant and rigid is the goal we want to reach.

Dear Esther, I have had confused feelings about it as well. But from time to time I have met turkish people here in the US and they seemed to be very civilized until you speak about politics with them. Though most of my own family were annihilated by the turks and there was a time in my life (when I was very young) I hated the turks; but now I don't hate anyone. I am just frustrated with the denyalist turkish government and with any denyalist turk and I despise their demeanor. Otherwise, I feel that there are many other turks like Orhan Pamuk and many other turkish writers that want the truth about the Genocide to prevail. I have chatted with another turkish woman on another Forum who was a very nice person and she wasn't a denyalist. So there is and there isn't.

orhan pamuk is ok, but ask him if he thinks western Armenia should be returned to Armenia and you will see he is the same sh*t as his denialist countrymen.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Re: Does This Make Me Racist?

Of course your dad is not a racist!!! It is TOTALLY OK to hate people whose grandfathers massacred 1.5 millions of your ancestors, and who took more than half of your historical homeland. So don't worry, my friend. This is not the place for the "American political correctness".

Re: Does This Make Me Racist?

This is a complicated issue , does it make you a racist to hate turks? The turks today are not what they used to be ,a tribe from mongolia, but a new race meaning they have been mixed with armenians, greeks, bulgarians and other ancient people living in anatolia and the balkans. Their culture is mostly stolen,(and im not saying borrowed because that would be missleading indeed)...from the armenians, many of u already know that...So their culture is mostly armenian. But their mentality ...im can't put my finger on it...:S

as he was in a fit of road rage, yes but generally yes, pretty much many armenians are racist, but then again so are many turks, this does not justify it however
