Resistance is futile. Didn't you learn when the Volgons destroyed the Earth (a 10 million year project for the Ultimate Question) for a hyperspace portal that wound up being unnecessary and re-destroyed? tsk tsk. :P

Though I do not have strong American pride, I must disagree with you. "American" isn't really an identity. When I tell people I'm "American," they don't accept that answer: "So does that mean you're white? Spanish? You look Italian..." America wasn't even founded by ONE ethnic group. It is a moshpot of diversity - for better or for worse. Its culture killing days will continue forever. Why? Not for some dark agenda, but because America is compiled of individuals who think of themselves more and more with each generation instead of thinking of themselves as part of a society, and thus making it ridiculously difficult to govern itself. There is only so much compromising that can be achieved.

I think the reasoning behind an Armenian identifying as an American is different. They are either assimilated to the point of no return or they feel "bullied" by American society which often seems to be non-accepting of "ethnics" or they just wanna save the embarassment of an ignoramus not knowing what an Armenian is and calling us Arabs or asking if "Armeynyans are Muzlims?" so they just say they're American.

What intrigues me is that I definitely see the point that many people don't know who Armenians are (I'll be frank. I met my first Armenian this last year...and now I'm dating one.... just noticed that.. moving on..). However, it's not that America is non-accepting of ethnics, they're non-accepting of whatever it is they do not KNOW. That is the fear of everyone when it gets to a certain point. For instance, the time where the house was really dark and you heard a noise...now you're not sure if you really heard it as you were doing something else (sleeping, on computer...)... and then your mind starts to wonder and you start to panic, especially if you're all alone in the house.... Point is, you don't KNOW. You became scared. America is the same way. They don't KNOW about you, so they don't know if you're a friend or foe.

There's one way to know if a person is American or Armenia. If asked "Who would you fight for in case of a war between Armenia and USA?", if the person responds USA, he is American, if responds Armenia, than still Armenian.

Of course a large simplification, but still a good indicator.

In fact, this whole thread regarding the debate of if Armenians are "white" or "not" is the start, so to speak.

In America, for instance, let's say your kids are born here, raised here, in order for them to succeed here, they need to be "global" citizens - aware of the common threads between cultures to make communication easier and therefore make more money. This can lead to either them drifting away from the Armenian Identity and more into the Global Identity. (ie: I am from California, I'm American - I am part of the country, speaking to you, in your country.;... and so forth).

That's going to get increasingly common since our world community is becoming more globalized. In other words, trends of cultures are starting to be seen in EVERY country's youths. For instance, my brother and I both stopped called ourselves "Mexican American" -- unless you're the census, we tell you we're "American."

American culture is dangerous to small ethnic groups like ours, it advocates assimilation and makes it very easy for even first generation immigrants to "assimilate" in the process losing their culture and falling into the American identity pot.

However, what do both have to do with the situation in Armenia? She is saying there is a problem in the homeland itself. That is inexcusable, if true.

That's a problem too, with the Armenians that try to act like black thugs. Those don't have to do with problem in Armenia (still big problems of course) but I still don't understand how armenians are acting as arabs, really the major influence there is russian, and also western of course. I've seen most women dress very western, and rather fashionable.

How about the Western Armenians from Arab countries that portray themselves as Middle Eastern?

Plus, I don't know what you're talking about I've seen women in Armenia dressing very European, there are European clothes stores all over the place now, and many dress rather openly, especially during night. I don't see that arab influence in armenia, except in rabiz.
