If anyone finds interest in their roots, I think that's a great thing. Like it has been mentioned in this thread, it has to come from within.
Many people, including her, express interest and go even further until they are met with bigetry and sometimes even hostility from the very group they were interested in learning about. This is what i mean by "accepting"-we need to accept her and others for who they are and still value them being fellow armenians. This women has not hurt anyone or anything and has found a way to reap fortune and fame at a young age. Sure maybe being a scientist or something would have been more of an accomplishment but still she is a person who has expressed interest in her armenian roots and should she read the crap in here about her i am sure it will dampen her interest. She is just a example of the millions of others our nation lost because we are too biggeted and closed minded to accept.

If your kid does something stupid or wrong, do you accept it or teach them the right way? We're not a dominant force like England/U.K. who has forced their language and culture on the world. However, we ARE a small group of people who are proud of their talents and accomplishments. I'm not really sure what her talents are, but maybe one day she'll find her niche and become more than an air brushed picture on the local grocery store magazine.

Well she is not your or my kid, and neither you nor i can tell he what is wrong or right-that is something every person decides for him/herself. As for her accomplishments- when was the last time you made the kind of $$ she has? I wish someone would pay me millions for my air brushed picture p.

I'm pretty sure she is in debt like everyone else.... difference being she has a lot more credit. People with real money get other people to do their dirty work. Unless you grow some tatas, I don't think Amerika is willing to pay for a pic of your hairy Armenian chest

I don't think you can "covert" anyone.

How many Armenians did she offend? Why must we change ourselves and conform? Furthermore, how is she "culturally Armenian"? Like what aspect of her is Armenian? Her culture? Her blood?

Nationalism like everything else is good in moderation. Reality is the only sustainable thing there is and even that changes just like everything else. Being open minded and accepting of others will only lead to a better society-country-world.

How should we explain the "conversion" of Armenian kids to non Armenian kids/adults.

Part of the solution to this problem is first to understanding whether man creates the enviornment or the enviornment creates the man.

If you are able to break this conundrum then the solution of the problem is "easy".

Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

Londontsi, I tried to explain, but you just won't listen and furthermore, you will argue with me because it is not in your interest to agree with me because by agreeing with me you must admit to a agonizing truth. Like I stated, you guys are just creating monsters to fight monsters.

Re: How to "convert" dormant Armenians to the Hye Tad?

returning back to the topic I'd like to point that
quote-We're not a dominant force like England/U.K. who has forced their language and culture on the world. However, we ARE a small group of people-unquote
                      and
quote-whether man creates the enviornment or the enviornment creates the man-unquote
                      and
quote-For me, it was encouraging to see others who are educated about everything Armenian and so passionate about it. Even if you want to educate yourself and brush up on your language skills (or even start from scratch) it can seem like a very daunting task, but finding like-minded people who make themselves available as a source of knowledge and encouragement is very important-unquote
these are the three main points which appear from the foregoing exchange of ideas. for my part I would consider this: it all begins at home and the beginning of everything is the learning and the knowledge of the armenian language -it does not matter if it is the arevelahayeren, arevmdahayeren, anjartsi, kessabtsi, artsakhian, javakhky, etc, etc. therefore it is the job of the parents, now how much do they feel responsible for that goal, that's another question and what a question. then in daily life any armenian kid must be proud of his belonging to the armenian ethnicity.
Now I'm not going out from the topic which is how to convert ....
convert using the same tools in the opposite way which conducted these people to get dormant, ie when an armenian is in need any kind of help, job, carrier, health problems, education, etc, to provide him assistance. To just help an intellectual elite like some of our funds do (I don't want to name any) is not the right way altough I can't deny that they are very necessary, I just disagree with their standards of assisting from what I hear sometimes, meaning that any, ANY armenian must receive assistance if and when he asks, if not he will knock someone else's door. same goes for jobs, etc..
now the second part of the topic which is the hye tad is another task, it concerns the armenians which are not dormant, they live their daily life as armenians but do feel concerned with the hay tad only in the comfort of their homes meaning are not active or politically involved people. to bring these back is much more difficult than the others....
