Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Wikipedia, website of the great lies

This is so funny, unfortunate I have not taken some screenshots, but I am following the ''Georgians'' page for a while now, and one day there were 3-5 million Georgians, then there were 5-7 million Georgians, and now there are 7-9.7 million Georgians

There are barely 3.3 million Georgians in Georgia, they claim there are 1.5 million Georgians in Iran, but as an Iranian-Armenian I can say there are no more than 20-50.000 Georgians in Iran (I have never met one, nor has my family).

They have assimilated the day they came to Iran, the story (Persian story) goes that the Persian king gave the Georgians and the Armenians a choice, or to walk through fire and die, or to convert to Islam. The Georgians immediately converted to Islam and assimilated within a generation, the Armenians however chose to walk through the fire, as the Persian king saw the Armenians were committing suicide for their belief, he let the Armenians have their religion and culture.

    Georgians in Georgia - 3.300.000
    Georgians in Russia - 200.000

Most of the ''Georgian'' people in Turkey are not Georgian (north-east of Turkey) but Caucasian tribes or have assimilated a long time ago.

Presumably they count by heritage. If you overestimate their numbers, you will come to about maximum 5 million Georgians at best.

Whereas wikipedia downgrades the number of Armenians worldwide, if we would have counted Armenians by heritage we would easily be more than 20 million.

Conclusion: everything that is European or Western is not to be trusted, go mother Russia!

Wiki is good to get basic info but for the rest it sucks because every one can change what ever they want so it becomes a breeding ground of propaganda and retards

True. But then again, everything that is Western is biased, Freedom House, OSCE, PACE.

Wikipedia is still pretty important because more often than not, it is the first thing that comes up when you google something. So if there's something that bothers you (such as the Georgian issue) then you should react.

I don't get it though, the site that they're using as a source says that there are 40,000 Georgian speakers in Iran, yet they still say that there are 500,000-1,500,000 Georgians in Iran. And then in the text they say that there are 300,000-1,500,000... If someone can make any sense out of this then he's as genius as a Georgian.

They are totally assimilated, converted to Islam and changed even their names. My grandfather has encountered a lot of them in his native hometown and has no high opinion of them.

And some of these 'proud' Georgians (in Iran) refer to themselves as having Caucasian ancestory.

It says 5-7 mil now. I think it's a good idea if we edit it to reflect reality rather than georgian fantasy.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Agreed, Wikipedia is widely used and if the information in wiki is false it should be changed.
Since this thread is about Wikipedia, could someone(who understands Turkish) check the Turkish Wikipedia version of Armenian genocide and change it if necessary.
I bet Turkish denialists did their homework there.

Don't be so dramatic, I don't think you know how Wiki's work. Wikipedia doesn't "Downgrade" anything, Armenians can change the information on the pages just like everybody else.

                  That is naive.

I don't know what the going rate for a Wikipedia administrator is, but I'd say $500,000 is cheap considering all journalists use Wikipedia as a source (sometimes as their only source). Many are already bought.

Regarding the Georgian / Anti-Russian propaganda, I suggest you search for "Wikipedia" and "Eastern European Mailing List". The entire email list was on wikileaks. It was organised by a Wikipedia administrator to get an "inconvenient" (i.e. honest and persistant) editor banned. The administrator who did the banning is high up Wikipedia's pyramid of power.

Wikipedia has loads of pro-Russian propaganda of course - for example, in Wikipedia's version of history, it was Finland who attacked Russia in 1940 - it all depends on which vested interest group has the upper hand in numbers, persistance, administrator allies, and propaganda sources for a particular article.
