I hate those retarded shows like every other sane person does, one of the reasons I don't watch tv on Sunday.
However are you blaming the deaths in the army to shows like vorogayt and co. because before doing that let's look at what those children were watching when they were young enough to be influenced by series and movies. Do you remember what everyone was watching in the 90's, every child know every action hero and had seen every movie that there was to be seen. Why not start by blaming there? And a second place to start pointing fingers is thug culture that has grown in Armenia since the fall of the SU where every guy is a tough guy u hashiv kludze, you can't blame this on a show because this existed a long time before the serial even was made.

The children are watching TV after they are five-six years old (18-5= 13 2010-13=1997) thus this is the very generation that has watched it; taking the criminal courses.

During the period above the serials have been very popular among the teenagers; and as the school teachers claim on TV interviews, the serials have been widely discussed by children at schools all day long.

And besides this is not just my opinion but the general public; especially teachers and other intellectuals who live in Armenia. Under USSR this kind of criminal propaganda was prohibited to show on TV. Thus you can't blame USSR in it.

Do you agree that there is difference whether the criminal life style is taught to teenagers on the streets or on TV?

TV has much larger audience. And ShanTV had been very popular among teenagers.

Gegev, if you had children who grew up watching those things you disliked, what would you do with them?

I'm aware of splits between generations like this, this is not at all a problem unique to Armenian youth and their parents/grandparents. It is simply the timeless syndrome of "Those young people are so vulgar these days, back in our time, the crimes and behavior they engage in now was unheard of!"

If an older person is not able to inspire the younger generation, they will say this, and blame something in society, rather than realize accept that this is the result for haven fallen behind in terms of pop culture, for whatever reason, be it personal disgust or just living in their own time in their heads.

My message is this, people are people, it doesn't matter what the generation is, at some level, there are things that interest us that are timeless, and we have to find ways to live with those things that make us happy. Music is one such thing, so is love, sports, competitions, dances... But of course the way society interacts with these things changes over time, with the fashion and trends. In the older times, communication technology was not what it is today, ideas could not travel 3000kms a second digitally, and people used what they had near to them more. That is not the world we live in anymore, find a way to adapt in a healthy way for you and your family.

Where did you get the notion that children started watching tv when they are 5, in Armenia children watch tv when they are two or three, when I was three I could program a VCR. So the influence of this generation goes to an age where Shant was showing tandz and other comedy shows. So you can't blame them, if you want to blame the tv blame all the action movies children were watching when they were three.
Yes all Armenian children grew up with VanDamme and Niko movies, go ask any child and he will tell you about those awesome action movies.

I think it's wrong to blame video games or tv shows for the way that the youth is today, i would say blame it on the lack of education. In the generation of my parents people read today in Armenia when a guy reads he's a xxxxx, are you going to blame this on tv-shows as well. I watched violent tv-shows since I was 3 but I haven't till this committed a real crime or anything else. So you can not blame a show for the way our children are, if your child is influenced by a tv-show it's your fault not that of the tv-show. You should have taught your child values and what is good and what is wrong and that tv is fiction.

Armenians can not see that tv is fiction, they start hating actors instead of the characters, when they see that actor playing in an other show they get mad. One of the things our people need to learn is that tv=/= reality. And that it is not up to tv to raise your children it's up to the parents. We can not blame the tv for all the retards that are ppzat in every corner, don't want to go to school because that is for pussies(comes from people who are from Armenia).

That's called ghetto culture. This is the same mentality that is fed to African Americans so they their only venue to success is through crime, theatre/arts or sports. Either way, they don't end up making educated decisions because they don't know any better. TV =/= education. Hell, even school doesn't equal education.... sometimes you have to teach yourself or find someone with the knowledge to teach you what you want to learn.

Many countries ban violence, criminal life style, advocating programs on TV. And FYI in Armenia, recently, it is done too, but alas it doesn’t work properly.

I would say you raised tour children to be proper adults who know what responsibility is, but blaming the xxxx ups of other people to tv is just shifting the responsibility for what they have done away from them.

Isn't that the fault of the parents and society that tv has become a second school for children. If a three year old goes out and steals something blame it on tv because then a child can be influenced but if a 19 year old does something how can you blame it on tv? An adult should be raised in such a way that he knows right from wrong.

When I was 4 years old I watched like 99% of the other Armenian boys violent movies, I watched them all the time but I also was taught who to write and do simple maths at the same time. Right now I know how to write and do maths but please do not ask me which movies i watched and what was in it.

In my opinion the streets and the friends that children have, have a bigger impact than tv ever will have. What they see on tv when they are 3 they will forget about it when they are 5 because tv shows change so much in two years it's not worth it too watch it anymore.

the tv is not there to raise your children, if you(not personally directed towards you but in general) can not raise your child don't blame the tv. Because it seems that parents
are trying to find a scapegoat for their screw ups and tv seems the easiest target. TV should not stop showing violence, but the parent should stop his child from watching.

I m against that, it's not up to the tv or society to raise your offsprings but it's upon the parents to do that and school. If your child learns life from tv that is your fault and not that of the tv. If your child becomes a criminal you can not blame it on the tv but blame it on yourself and the group of friends that your child has. It's not the task of a television channel to raise your child they are there to entertain and there should it stop.

As a former teacher I insist that TV influence matters much in children education.

Although the parents, as you stress, are crucial players in that; they can’t successfully confront the other adverse components of the multifaceted education process, if they are doing it lonely. In effective education it is important that all the major component gradients are working towards the same goal/direction.
