I cannot seem to find the forum for flame wars, but thought that a brief reminder would be nice to have. This thread is quickly filling with your guys' arguments that are 1) not on topic, but 2) simply attacking each other.

I'm not a mod or an admin so I can't do anything about it. However, you hopefully will realize that because users aren't following the rules, it may be a factor as to why new members leave, refuse to join, or mods have such a difficult time keeping this forum clean.

*that's my off-topic post. you two will probably choose to ignore and continue, or even argue against me some more -- and yes, I will ignore it as well.

A proof would be a study that provides a non-subjective evaluation of the situation. People's testimonies are often biased, and bias can have no part in a proof.

And who do you think would be used in that evaluation? People. You think the government won't be bias as well?

Again, a legitimate example cannot be used as a precedent for the whole population. By bringing one example you attempt to establish the credibility of your previous claims. That's what I'm criticizing.

A lot of reforms have been made as a result of pressure from the people. Just look at Egypt, government is beginning to make reforms it never had to before, because of united pressure from the people.

Not most of the time. Many times changes have come about by pressure from the much larger middle/lower classes. In order to secure their support government has accepted their proposals.

Mos, now that's a much better response. I'll give it a read tomorrow and we can discuss it some more. My hostility is not towards you, but rather towards posting statements that demean the image of Armenia, yet have no backing.

I do not think it is so much the flaming that has gone on here and still erupts from time to time but rather the topics of most of the active threads deal with political/historical/philosophical/religious questions and concerns, and sadly, too many people, Armenian and non, are turned off by these types of discourse.
I bet if we had threads on kim kardashian and her sisters we'd have a lot more members, but numbers are not important, quality of the posters are.

Last thing I want to do is demean my country. All I want to do is help my country and the people living there. To make Armenia stronger and a country people want to stay and other Armenians want to move to. I think our government has taken some positive steps, so I applaud them for that, but there are still many gaps that need to be filled, some more urgently than others. The biggest one for example being corruption.

The emigration problem has lately been intensely discussed in Armenia, writes the Hayots Ashkharh (Armenian World) newspaper.

Even government agencies do not deny the fact. However, the figures are often inflated for political purposes. The inaccuracies in statistical data aroused suspicion. The Armenian President ordered the problem to be thoroughly studied.

The statistical data included even the crews of Armenian Airlines and Air Armenia (217 people) that allegedly left the country. They carried out about 27,000 flights.

Also, Armenian citizens cold not actually leave the country because of inaccuracies in their documents. However, their names were not removed from the emigration lists. About 17,000 Armenian citizens that did not actually leave the country were registered as emigrants in the database.

People having dual citizenship, with most of the living abroad, were included in the database as well.

Summing up, the newspaper writes that the inaccuracies resulted in inflated emigration figures in the database. However, 31,000 Armenian citizens actually left the country.

I don't think you understand Armenian mentality.....this is how we are and its very normal. It is not flaming and in fact right on topic. Two Armenians in a room will always bicker when talking about Armenia, that is a fact mam.
Now try three or more Armenians in a room then you really be cooking.....we actually like it, must be in our genes.

I don't think you understand Armenian mentality.....this is how we are and its very normal. It is not flaming and in fact right on topic. Two Armenians in a room will always bicker when talking about Armenia, that is a fact mam.
Now try three or more Armenians in a room then you really be cooking.....we actually like it, must be in our genes.

The Armenian mind is like a beast with tentacles. When slaying the dragon, it reaches for every weapon in the arsenal. Doesn't care if it's a sword or a varoonk, it will either cut you or slap you having the same effect
