The one or two readers
who may or may not remember me
after I die, may tell you
I could be incredibly mean
towards my readers.
What they will not tell you is that
they could be infinitely meaner towards writers –
both living and the dead.
To paraphrase a celebrated dictum:
“Who speaks today of Armenian writers?”
Not even Armenians.

he is not smart, he is only brainwashed to believe he is.

If I ever come close to achieving immortality –
please note: I say “if” and I say “come close” –
it will only be in the eyes of Armenians I have insulted:
for an Armenian has the memory of an elephant,
the cunning of a serpent,
and the stamina of a serial fornicator.

What nonsense!
No such thing.
We are a collection of minorities within minorities.
That’s what makes us ideal losers
and perennial victims.

“You should write more like Saroyan,” I am told once in a while. But Saroyan wrote like Saroyan because had he written like Melville or Mark Twain he would have been a failure.
