In a civilized environment dissident writers are awarded the Nobel Prize (Mann, Shaw, Sartre). In an uncivilized environment dissidents are silenced, exiled, starved, shot or driven to suicide.

I am willing to concede we may well be soul mates.
Only one minor objection:
You seem to be unaware of the fact that Buddhism is an atheist religion. By the way, have you read Toynbee's STUDY OF HISTORY. Volume xii, in which he attempts to reconcile all religions and for which reason he was called a charlatan?

Every organized religion is convinced it is the true religion and it has a monopoly on truth. And religious leaders appear to be too arrogant to understand that this mindset has promoted many wars and massacres, but above all it has legitimized intolerance and a false sense of superiority.
