Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I'm sure that throughout the day, a whole bunch of people don't use dividers and this cashier has to go through the same xxxx all the time and it pisses him off. I'd get pissed off too. But maybe we had to be there to know what you're talking about. I dont know.
I'm gonna agree with that. Ask anyone that has worked in retail. Customers can be a pain in the ass. Ever think that the cashier felt disrespected? People usually treat them like crap.

I don't know what it is about retail stores, that makes customers think they can yell at the employees. If you're not happy, there's probably a store within walking distance that sells the same thing. But nooooo they just have to let you know how furious they are.

On the other hand talking back to customers is not acceptable.

Racism is alive and stronger everywhere not just in Glendale, and its not just towards Armenians, its towards everybody and anybody who is a minority in any particular neighborhood, city, town, country, etc.

Ya, I mean, what Bruin is saying is totally valid. I've seen it happen many times. But this situation she describes does not strike me as particularly racist.

There have been countless occassions that have made me want to strangle customers. There is nothing like working retail to totally diminish what little faith you had in the intelligence and integrity of the human race. I'm astonished that some of these people are able to breathe on their own, let alone perform more difficult day to day life functions. Getting frustrated and fed up with a customer's incompetence is not racism. They just happened to be Armenian, so you picked up on the cashier's reaction. However, as any retailer will tell you, the cashier's repsonse was idiotic towards anyone. If I ever acted like that in front of a customer, I'd be canned in a heartbeat.

anyways, back to the topic: this dude had no problem or inhibitions about hididing his anger or accusing the customers of 'talkin too much'--i was there and i could see! HE WAS ANNOYED! they were speaking kind o' loud but not too loud; i can almost guarantee one thing! he would not have made a comment like that if the customer was black! cuz he knew he'd never hear the end of it!

For all we know he might have had a bad day. Hardly "racist" from what you yourself described. It could be his wife told him she is getting a divorce during his lunch break and that she's been banging the bag boy that works right in his supermarket. But it's still not an excuse to be an ass.

Good point. Bruin why didn't you say something? I mean, nothing mean or anything. But you know, there are other ways to show that you noticed it.

In my opinion, i dont think racism is stronger than ever these days... i do think however there still are plenty f racist people.. and Armenians, for that matter, are very racist themselves (for the most part, and the older generation).. I dont look at cases of racism and say "oh this country is the most racist..etc..." because throughout history we can see how racism has become a lesser significant matter.. as for this specific case.. this is what i would have done... I would have approached form behind in more or less defense of the Armenians, and i would simply tell the cashier that the divider was accidently misplaced and he had no reason to get so irritated.. so instead of looking for the opprtunity to pounce.. id rather calm the situation.. life has many more important things to pounce on... aka.. "the mooon". *ok.. for those of you who didnt get it.. i will insert smiley now )
How do you hurt a masochist?
