Spaniards have a similar culture, history and blood...to/with whom? Armenians? I'd say they have a similar culture, history and blood with the Moors - Muslims from North Africa - who ruled spain for nearly 900 years from the 700s to early 1600s - and greatly intermixed with the population and highly influenced its culture. SO what do you say to that WHite Boy! face it - you know very little about history, culture or biology.

winoman's understanding of Spanish and North African history leaves a lot to be desired and I will correct his 2005 post as it's so outrageous.

The Arabs, Berbers or their Negro lackeys admixed very little with the Spaniards or Portuguese. The Phoenicians and Carthaginians where Canaanites not Moors.

The North Africans are Arabized Amazigh (Berbers) and the Amazigh have lived in North Africa for over 20,000 years. The Portuguese have around 10% SS African ancesty and only the south of Spain was under any Arab influence for any length of time. What is more Afro-Asiatic languages have a Eurasia origin.

Galician in North Western Spain was liberated by the Visigoths after only 17 years and the Arabs only held sway in the south. 70% of Iberian people ancestry is the same as it was 2,500 years ago. Invaders really haven't altered it that much and their have been a lot of them.

But it serves to indicate that though one lot of (depending on your viewpoint) idiots or paragons of virtue seem to have died out (do they stop posting because they forget how to use computers, or just exhaust the limited list of things they have to say?), another lot grows up to replace them.

wow... I don't really care if this thread is over 6 years old or not.......But just found it now directly from google and read through, i'm shocked at the racism against Arabs and Muslims amongst the Armenians here. I'm Arab and Muslim and have always been fascinated by Armenia, i've wanted to visit and explore. Is this hostility really what's going on in the minds of Armenians??....I think i would fear for my safety there after reading all this, I think i will forget any ideas of traveling to Armenia, at least for now. :-(

By the way, I'm aware that maybe no one is going to read this, but the definition of racism is not pride of one's own race, the definition of racism is irrationally hating and attacking another race based on stereotypes or prejudice....I'm disappointed by all this. :-(

I have news for you ... No non-muslim likes muslims or Arabs .. even muslims amongs themselves hate each other (if you happen to be the wrong kind of muslim). It's not just Armenia (not sure there is anything extra-ordinary about Armenia other than it is a very small Christian country that has been butchered up by muslim neighbors for a very very long time). Pretty much any non-muslim place you go, people won't really be warm and cozy to you if they find out your are a muslim. That's just how it goes. That's just how Islam has portrayed itself for a long time (as a violent, conquering, revenge seeking culture). It is spreading like cancer through Europe and all US gets to see of Islam is the crazy fundamentalists and the regular masses don't know any better.

Sure there are some progressives that love to claim Islam is a "religion of peace" but that's just words. In reality, we are not seeing a peaceful Islam in the world in action (maybe in passive existence but that is kind of useless).

Actually you are choosing to see what you want to see, if you see peaceful Muslims you will just ignore them because they don't fit in with your personal, irrational hatred... I'm a practicing Muslim living in the UK and have many non Muslim friends, a lot of non Muslims here like us.... You need to wake up and see the real world and stop generalizing, things have moved on since you put your blindfold on.

I feel sorry for people like you actually....I will continue in search to find Armenians who are welcoming and not blinded by ignorance. I'm sure there are some out there.

It doesn't matter what I do or say .. I think what you were asking about is the general view of muslims in the world. Sure you can continue practicing "peacful" islam (whatever that means) but that will not do ANY good when you do nothing to stand up against the crazy, fundamental, violent muslims in the world.

Example: A cartoonist draws a picture of Muhammad in a satiric piece. Some muslims around the world go nutz and even threaten the cartoonist with DEATH! For a drawing! Maybe I need to open my eyes but I did not hear or see a SINGLE muslim stand up to these idiot muslims to tell them they are wrong. Not a single one. So what does that tell me about this "peaceful" Islam?

I actually wasn't asking the view of Muslims in the world... i think you just simply wanted to share your own hatred and ignorance. But ah well at least you made it easy for me to figure out what type of person you are....I actually was wondering if i'd be safe traveling in Armenia but, with people like you around, the question has been answered by your attitude.

Muslims stand up to these extremists all the time... But peace doesnt make interesting news. Even if you saw a peaceful Muslim, i wouldnt expect you to take any notice of them, no matter what good they do. You are geared only one way. Hatred.

You are to Armenians what these Fundamentalists are to Islam and Muslims....The evil have the louder voice that ruins the reputation of the peaceful norm who want to just get on with their life.....

I actually feel sad for the good Armenians who have people like you representing them.... and this is actually coming from an Arab Muslim.
