The Western powers used the Christian minority to divide the Ottoman Empire as well as the Arab population to lead a rebellion. They didn't care about the Greeks, Assyrians or Armenians nor did they want to "save" them. They were interested in their investments.

They blow themselves up most likely because some western soldier raped, tortured and/or killed one of their family members. Give them the same weapons and I'm sure they wouldn't need to blow themselves up.

Do you agree with the "eye for an eye" morality? As a Christian you really shouldn't. The Muslims that are radicalised are usually the young ones that have are exposed to such events of Western atrocities, coupled with the fact that radical clerics will try to influence such young people in joining their cause. The combination can be a lethal one.

@ Mos, YEs I dont listen to anything anyone tells me, I know what this is like because you get this same BS about Muslims, Arabs etc.... that they're hostile, that they're terrorists, what i'm trying to do here is built a humble bridge between and find out from Armenians themselves. Again i do not need to ask you to be careful of the BS you hear about Muslims and Arabs, we are being made to be hated by the west as they have their own agendas...

Any group of people have shades of grey, especially for Muslims, there are 1 billion of them in the world! Generalising for all of them is completely idiotic. I understand that there exists the very small minority of religious fundamentalists that seek violence as the primary means and utilise vulnerable youths to do so. However, there are many more Muslims that are moderate, reject such fundamentalism, and while being religious, also care about things that we all care about (family, work, etc). We should criticise those Muslims that take the fundamentalist path and resort to violent means, but that doesn't mean every Muslim is like that. Just because there are Aryan White groups which are at time violent in some countries like Russia, US doesn't mean all the people in those countries are such.

Partially. Western powers also did not want Armenians to have a large mass of land in the region as they wouldn't have been as easy to manipulate as the Turks. Also, they needed the Turkish military in order to secure their investments as they couldn't support a large French presence for an indefinite amount of time. Armenian Genocide occurred as a result of the geographical location which Armenians occupied. There were only two choices.... create a large Armenian state dead smack in the middle of future planned energy corridors or eliminate the Armenian presence.

I believe in justice and as long as there is injustice, there will be violence which will precipitate to the surface. If someone raped or killed my family member(s) and I didn't have any feelings of desperation, hatred or revenge... I'd have to say I'm not human or lack empathy.

Armenians may have had aspirations of independence and such, but they didn't openly rebel until the Turks started massacring and cleansing Armenian villages. It's the Turkish propagandists that say that Turks had to deal with a openly rebelling and "traitorous" Armenians. Hamid especially was intent on utilising the religion card "Armenians are infidel Christians" in massacring Armenians. Wouldn't Wilsonian Armenia had interfered with such projects??

I don't see how other innocent people deserve to die. It just makes you the same as the Western soldier that killed your family. I guess a better thing to do would be to become a soldier and fight against the Western soldiers, but killing innocent civilians as an act of revenge is barbaric and primitive.

Thanks, I just recently got it an is the next film I plan to watch.

After watching this movie, even as a Christian, being Armenian and having sympathy for what those people are going through, I can now absolutely understand how they would do what they do, and being put in the same situation, I can't say I wouldnt do the same.

wow... I don't really care if this thread is over 6 years old or not.......But just found it now directly from google and read through, i'm shocked at the racism against Arabs and Muslims amongst the Armenians here. I'm Arab and Muslim and have always been fascinated by Armenia, i've wanted to visit and explore. Is this hostility really what's going on in the minds of Armenians??....I think i would fear for my safety there after reading all this, I think i will forget any ideas of traveling to Armenia, at least for now. :-(

By the way, I'm aware that maybe no one is going to read this, but the definition of racism is not pride of one's own race, the definition of racism is irrationally hating and attacking another race based on stereotypes or prejudice....I'm disappointed by all this. :-(

Fearful of Armenians! The online lot do talk big amongst themselves (well, they delude themselves into thinking their thoughts are "big"), but in the real world most of these internet tough guys would flee like frightened mice at the slightest sound. And the cretins whose 6-year-old posts prompted your post aren't "Armenia" - none of them live there. That lot were mostly spotty-faced teenagers, the offspring of first-generation immigrants who fled Armenia when the going got tough in the 1980s and then lied their way into America or Canada. They will be gone in a generation, and won't be missed.

As for you, you say "I'm Arab and Muslim" - the first you have no control over, and is something you can have pride in being. The second is something YOU have decided on (and you are not living in a country where you risk being killed if you stop being Muslim). Frankly, if you want to believe in an obnoxious, laughable bunch of nonsense that, for most of its existence, has been engaged in little more than brutal mass murder and oppression, then I don't have much respect for you. "Islam" is not a race - it is a monsterous crime. And if you really know Islam, you will know it is your "fellow" Muslims you should be the most fearful of.
