Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)
1] What you CAN NOT post.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene
You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)
The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!
2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.
This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.
3] Keep the focus.
Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.
4] Behave as you would in a public location.
This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.
5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.
Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.
6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.
Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.
7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.
- PLEASE READ -
Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.
8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)
If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Originally posted by winomanlouseyourname - I respect that you have done a good job as a moderator on this forum - however I have to object again to my being given a warning for deservedly calling that pig a pig. As you are not Armenian you do not feel the insult nor do you feel or understand the depth of our pain. About the worst thing one can say or do is to insult and defame our families while claiming friendship and openess but likewise claiming that Armenians (as a people) are intolerant, hateful and narrowminded and then blaming Armenians for the ills that befell them. This is why I reacted such as I did to Rookiedenier who began by posting his seemingly honest desire to come here and learn when in fact his mind was quite made up and he was full of accusations and untruths concerning Armenians. You cannot understand how great an insult this is to us. I could kill such a person without compunction as they represent the worst of filth IMO. So I can not be expected to be civil. Armenians would understand this. turdyfruit denier is likewise scum - though perhaps more inocuous and just idiotic. Still when he comes with grave insults and afronts - such as wishing more genocide upon us and such - and then plays at being friendly - interested in our personal details and such - well that is going quite too far. I care not if he is banned or not - but if he remains here and posts the same garbage I will react to him as he deserves. Likewise to others who insult us in this way. I am all for diologue and discussions of issues - I am all for understanding from another's perspective - but they have come into our house and are attacking our families - (those who act thus) - they deserve no respect and will be given none.

Originally posted by loseyournameAs I said, you've been warned. Anyone that continues to neglect the rules of the forum will be warned and will eventually be banned, regardless of the reasoning behind his actions and regardless of how justified he feels. I know perfectly well what it is like to have your ethnic background insulted. It is silly of you to presume that a non-Armenian cannot know what it is like, as if Armenians are the only ethnic group to ever experience genocide and racism and are the only ethnic group to ever be insulted. I've had much the same experience as you on other internet forums. When I felt I could not constrain myself and continue to follow the forum guidelines, I put whoever was offending me on the ignore list. You can do the same.Achkerov kute.

but but but how did wino insult the man? I read many of wino's posts and I didn't find them insulting, he sometimes got emotional but never really insulted anyone... Turfriend on the other hand, made many rude and insulting comments and thank you looser for noticing that...
Anyway, wino, I you man, lol no really... I like reading your posts and don't wanna see you get banned, so stop arguing.

Originally posted by TUR-FriendIn this section, we, the Turkish members of this wonderful forum, would like to ask some questions to our Armenian friends. That way we can learn what you think about a number of things, then compare it with what we know, so that we can try to analyze the reasons of any possible differences between what we knew earlier and what you tell us now. I hope that an Armenian forumer will open a similar thread, Questions for Turks from Armenians...
I hope that this will be fun and productive.
I admire the fact that you are opening a dialogue with Armenians on this forum. It's about time for young people [Turks and Armenians especially] to start discussing about the issues that have polarized us dramatically AND start building our bridges....

Thank you Nune & Catwoman.
I of course believe that my responses to the Turks who have come here has been both measured and appropriate . I have no problems with most Turks and in fact with most Turks I know we don't even discuss these issues - and ussually when we do it is at their instigation and I calmly explain what I know and how I feel and I draw them out as to what they know etc - this ussually leads to a worthwhile discussion and ends in greater understanding.
But the Turks who have recently come to this forum obvioulsy have no real interest in talking, learning, sharing or what not. The post that began this thread is an obvious sham - there has been no follow up - no exchange - no response - and it is entirely inconsistant with every other post this so-called friend has ever made on this forum. I suggested to some of the Turks that I thought at least minimally capable to share some things with us to try to attempt actual diologe - by first starting to tell us some things about themselves and Turkey and their culture (as anyone might do who comes here from another culture and wants to share and truly establish some friendships and understandings) but like everything else I have posted in response to them it was just ignored. So my reponse in this thread was appropriate IMO.
Additionally I follow my Dao - and particularly on issues like this where I have both passion and knowledge I am not about to back down - this would amount to betraying myself, my family and my people. Believe me - I have had many friendly exchanges and good informational exchanges with a variety of Turks - but ones who show no capacity for such will get nothing but vitrol as they deserve.
That other peoples and people have had similar experiences to Armenians is not something that I am unaware or have no sympathy with. In fact a few years ago I instigated a discussion group amongst a few Armenians, Jews, Hutus and Native Americans I had gotten to know to share common experiences. We had some emotional, educational and worthwhile exchanges.
Still - the Armenian situation is a unique case in that our ancient culture and nation (in our heartland of Anatolia) has been more or less completely wiped out and we have been scattered and until recently had no nation to call our own and not only has our tragedy not been acknowledged but a substantial portion of Turks (common people and so-called scholars and media etc) follow the lead of their duplicitus government and deny our tragedy - they actively and aggressivly do so and they actually have the gaul to blame the Armenians and accept none of what was done to us. Not only that but the process of Genocide contiunes with destruction of Armenian monuments, places and names within Turkey to further force us into obscurity and to further bury our tragedy (and their actions against us). For others - such as the Jews - it is only a fringe element who attempts denial and there are others besides just Jews who jump in and set things straight - the deniers are not legitimized - have no big government to back them - and thus their efforts have no real meaning or effect - likewise this is the case for all other groups (except for us!) who have experienced Genocide - there is no case of such an ongoing or sustained denial that is so legitimized because of the backing of a mojor state or entity. For our situation it is up to us to defend and to set things straight. And we must be aggressive or the hugely funded and aggressive Turkish denial campaign will suceed (and in fact has suceeded at least in part) - to our shame and hurt.
I cannot speak for the cowards and unfeeling among us - such as Anyonymouse (whose pettiness speaks for itself) - or those who have only narrowminded anger and hate to drive them - such as Red Brigade (perhaps he will one day grow up and learn and learn to feel) - but I know that what I say resonates with most Armenians. We don't hate Turks. And we are not ignorant. We are sorrowful for what was done to us and we cannot abide by further insult from those who deny and perpetuate our tragedy. Because of our situation - our hurt and our anger at the denial is felt to a greater depth then others - as it is an ongoing thing - an ongoing insult - an ongoing attack against us. Louseyourname obviously does not understand this - in fact he has basically admitted to not liking or understanding other people even (they are exchangable and without special qualities) - he is doubly unable to have a legitimate perspective on this issue in regards to the Armenian POV and in regards to representing or speaking for Armenians on this forum and specifically concening this issue. Thus he should not concern himself with these issues or interchanges and he certainly should not be able to ban any Armenian for properly venting in the face of the behaviors we have had to endure on the part of the nasty bunch of Turks who have invaded this forum.
That I would call an obvious (based on his record of posts) hateful Turk a pig is nothing but a statement of fact. It is only natural that I would curse such a person who is attempting to whitewash my families and my peoples suffering and make racist statements about them - which from an Armenian perspective is the gravest of insults where an emotional response from us is to be expected. I have proven that I will deal with the issues (and respond accordingly - even in a freindly and understanding way - if they merit it) - but likewise I will not be constrained from expressing my righteous anger. My Chi does not allow it. If you ban me then it is your loss and our loss IMO. For me to supress these emotions is asking far too much particularly when - from an Armenian perspective - these Turks have gone a great deal further in terms of the foulest of language and intent against us. And to ignore them is not an option - I will not allow them to continue to defame my tortured, abused and murdered family members - my people who were brutaly massacred from our villages around Divrick and in the Sivas region and all throghout Anatolia. Their memories hall not be tarnished and swept away!
