Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Re: I wonder why there's so much hate directed towards Armenians..who don't look arme

    Actually I too am Armenian

I have very light skin, brown eyes and brown hair with red/blonde pigmentation (when I was younger it was toward the more redish side)

I think all this arguments is kind of stupid. I remember reading many armenians making fun of white people? Well I am a white armenian

And to the people talking about the language. I remember reading about Armenian and Greek having similarities

Don't care if some peolpe say that you are not Armenian because of your hair's color. It is nonsense. You want to know why they gossip always or spend so much money on stupid things? It is very easy. because thay don't have to do anything serious. Whatever they need they get from their parents and as we are merchant nation nothing is staying but to spend it on every kind of foolishness and which is most important in this case to boast on front of the world about those.
However it is one of the dangerous point for us. As said Garegin Njdeh" Oh nation, if want to know your future show me your youth". But here I think we don't have much to boast....
P.S. Fortunately there are some exceptions but unfortunately they are few

Re: I wonder why there's so much hate directed towards Armenians..who don't look arme

There were tribes in Urartu Kingdom (Early Armenia).
Armens - one of the tribes and a name Armen is after them.
Hayks - one more Armenian name + words Hye, Hyestan come from their name.
        Aryans
there was also a 4th tribe and I am not sure of the 5th one. I know for sure that there were 4 or 5.....

Time passed and Urartu became Armenia.

Armens, Hayks, ....., ... , ..., became Armenians. Everyone of those tribes had their physical differences. Ofcource we lost our difference after ages and ages of mixing, but we get to see Armenians that are blond even now.

I think it was Armens that were light skin, hair, blue eys.

There is a video on youtube that talks about the tribes.

Try finding BeautySavesWorld's channel on youtube. She has lots of videos on Armenian history just as what's happening today. I think I got to see that video from her, so do you research if you are interested.

She is also extremely knowledgeable about our ancient history.

        Good luck.

There are much more salient issues to talk about...drop this inane subject.

As Monte Melkonian said (paraphrasing): There is no such thing as an Armenian race. There is only an Armenian Nation.

          ...Just leave it at that.

Re: I wonder why there's so much hate directed towards Armenians..who don't look arme

I read this thread, intersting, Im a little confused now. So Armenians are not white?
Im a third generation Armenian-American, my parents told me im white, everyone has always considered me white. I have pale white skin, blue eyes.
            Im 100% Armenian.
I have been around Armenian people who will turn around and give me a dirty look and then say "you cant be armenian cause your too white" They try to convince me im mixed.
I know I am 100% Armenian, both my parents are Armenian-their parents survived the genocide. They came from Kharpert. Both my grandparents pale white with blue eyes.. Everyone in my family is armenian and theres no way i am mixed with anything. Everyone tries to convince me that I am somehow mixed. How can that be if all my ancestors are Armenian?
usually when i tell non-armenian people im armenian, i get "WOW you dont look armenian at all"
Im always offended by that remark,,
then armenians will say "NO way your full armenian, you have blue eyes, a small nose and light skin, you must be mixed"
I'm more offended by that remark.

What does looking Armenian supposed to be mean?
take a look at System of a Down- I think their a good representation,, You have Shavo who is pale white with reddish hair, John whos pale as well, Serj whos olive complexion, Daron who I feel has very Armenian features-olive as well. So is Daron more Armenian than Shavo because hes darker? And is Serj more Armenian looking than John cause John looks like a white boy?

I think Armenians come from very white to very dark.

Italians are like this as well...

If you look at Miss Armenia- she looks very white,
then Kim Kardashian (whos half armenian) She looks like Osama Bin laden.

Also Eric Bogosian, is very light, light blue eyes,,
then you have Ken Davitian who is olive with dark features..

Mike Connors is very white, so people should say he doesnt look Armenian either? He must be mixed too?

So who looks more Armenian? Its really stupid if you ask me.
I think the new Armenian immigrants started this whole thing. Maybe their mixed. I think they also started this thing with saying Armenians are not white, I never heard that before the late 90s.

If you look at the people who came to america after the genocide-those armenians are white with some blue eyes, etc....

The ones i see from Armenia and immigrants in CAlifornia are darker.

I dont know what to say,, maybe during the genocide alot of white skinned, blue eyed armenians were killed or taken as sex slaves.. Im sure the turks were jealous and wanted to kill them or take them and keep them for themselves...Must be a reason that its kinda rare these days to see Armenians like that.

If you look at the Armenian Genoicde survivors who are in their 90s,, almost all of them are very pale skinned. My grandmother has a button nose, sky blue eyes and auburn hair. You should think about it why are all those survivors very fair featured yet if you look at the population of Glendale they look like a different race? Whos really mixed here?

I'm just curious am i not supposed to be white now? Should I say I'm something else?

The new Armenian Community makes me feel like a light skinned African American, at least i know how they feel now.

The reason why there exists two fronts on this issue is a question of historical origin. Armenians from Armenia feel that, historically, Armenians are a native people in the region, thus, we did not migrate from the west to the east, while most Armenians in the Diaspora are taught that Armenians migrated from the "west to the east" in ancient times, thus, are not natives. This is what fuels the debate of "white or not white", however, the truth is that Armenians are indeed natives (Armenians, like all people, were formed by various tribes, whether native or immigrant, that merged together) and are one of the oldest Indo-European people in the world. I would say Armenians, for the most part, are a people racially similar to the French and Italians, but I don't like to make these comparisons, Italians are Italians and Armenians are Armenians (For the sake of example).

Thanks for replying Virgil, yes i agree.

Bottom line is I know what I am and im not going to let anyone brainwash me into thinking im something else..

It was hard growing up Armenian and this divide just makes it even harder to me, getting rejected by your own people is the worst thing that can happen to anyone.

Anyone with one drop of Armenian blood is Armenian in my book.

Something to consider ..... this is not a joke it is all over the net.

                  "The Anglo Saxon Chronicle.
The island Britain (1) is 800 miles long, and 200 miles broad.
And there are in the island five nations; English, Welsh (or
British) (2), Scottish, Pictish, and Latin. The first
inhabitants were the Britons, who came from Armenia (3)..."

I do not like to see "innocent" posts that imply indirectly division amongst us based on race, ideology, geography. People, get used to the idea that we have been long enough in the Diaspora with a population almost 3 times larger that our present homeland. There are going to be variances in our looks and behaviors. Snap out of it.
