Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Microsoft Ranks Kemal Ataturk Among Dictators

The world’s software giant Microsoft listed the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, among dictators such as Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Zedong in the German 2006 version of its Encarta Encyclopedia published annually, Turkish Zaman daily reports.

Encarta used mostly by the school-age children and renewed every each year informs: "Ataturk, born on the 12th of March 1881, and from the age of five attended military school at the center of anti-Turkish, Greek and Slav nationalism in Monastery and Thessalonica. He began studying at Istanbul Military Academy and graduated as brigadier in 1905."

I don't need to be convinced, do you?

FYI Ohaness, we probably ban more Armenians on this site than we do Turks. However, our decisions on banning doesn't have anything to do with wether a member is Turkish or Armenian or Tasmanian, we don't care who you are. EVERYONE needs to obey the forum rules, which members are required to read before posting - or they will be in danger of banning - simple as that.

Do a search for Deborah Lipstadt or International Association of Genocide Scholars (I think user 'Hellektor' posted it) and you will find an article written by a non-Armenian Genocide expert discussing how 'creating the idea that there are two sides to a story or somehow there should be a forum for denial' is wrong.

Furthermore, the purpose of this site isn't to convince people, thats what the 1000's of books on the subject are for. If you haven't any knowledge of the Armenian Genocide, this is probably the wrong place to start, grab a book (preferably an un-biased eyewitness account in the beginning) and read it. Once you have some background, then come here and lets discuss it. Thats a little more in line with what this site is all about.

Spotlight Reviews:Turkification of Gobineau by Speros, Jr. Vryonis

                Clio Meets the Grey Wolf
                Reviewer: Alyssa A. Lappen (Earth)

The most remarkable information in this book--and there is a great deal of remarkable information here--is the revelation that Kemalism established the "Turkification of Gobineau's theory of the racial, and therefore civilizational, superiority of the Aryans."

Ataturk established the Turkish Historical Thesis (Turk Tarih Tezi) and the Sun Theory of Languages (Gunes Dil Teorisi). The former holds that the history of Turkey as known today doesn't consist merely of Ottoman history, but is much older and in fact dispersed culture to all nations, including the Greek classical nation, the Hittites, the Chinese, the Romans and all European nations. The latter holds that Turkish was the first language ever spoken by humans, and is the foundation for all other languages, be they classical Greek and Latin, Romance languages or even Anglo-Saxon tongues.

By way of these theories, the Turkish educational system still, today, teaches that Turkish society is supremacist, and that it is from Turkish history and language that all other culture and languages flow. One can according to these theories allow that there was, for example, a beautiful Greek civilization, but at the same time, one holds that this was not independent, but a derivative of the Turkish culture and history.

What is even more astounding is that there are those historians, including Bernard Lewis, who make apology for this supremacist line.

Since the European Union is now considering whether Turkey should join its ranks, it would be highly beneficial for all European citizens--but especially European officials--to read this short but powerful book. To the extent that the racist teachings exposed herein are still taught today in Turkey, and are still regarded as truth by the mass of educated Turks, this book is a warning against Turkish admission to the EU.

                --Alyssa A. Lappen

                By a reader
The author, a well known scholar, provides an excellent analysis of how the modern Turkish state, ever since its founding in 1923, has worked intensively, though incompetently, on distorting history.
This is done by reviewing a recent book written in French by the assistants of the late president Ozal of Turkey, in order to convince the Europeans that Turkey should be allowed to enter the European Union.

Mr. Ozal, turned historian, attempts to persuade the readers of his book of such things as: all Greek history is in fact Turkish history; all history stems from the Turks and could not be possible without the contribution of the Turks; all language stems from Turkish etc.

In the second part of the book, Dr. Vryonis examines how the Turkish state is buying influence in the United States by bankrolling the work of corrupt American scholars to parrot such "theories" as those in Mr. Ozal's book and by endowing chairs of Turkish Studies in American universities.

The chief characteristic of Turkish civilization when it comes into contact with other civilizations is that an orgy of taking and usurpation develops -- that is the Turks taking from the other civilization. The current book -- superbly documented with Turkish as well as international sources -- shows that this cultural tendency to usurp and appropriate extends not just to material wealth and to the genes of the forcibly Turkified populations, but -- beyond that -- to the history of the peoples the Turks come into contact with.

In our times this tendency is manifested by the Turkish state denying the identity of 20% of its population which is Kurdish and by its insistence to refer to them as "mountain Turks" while prohibiting public speech or publications in Kurdish.

The book should be read by all, but especially by those who believe that Turkey is a Western nation. Distortion of history and manipulation of national identity is not a particularly western value.

Third, it is accepted as self-evident."

Agree. The Armenian Genocide is not a zionist conspiracy. The true culprit is a combination or pan-Turanism and islamo-fascism. Some people just want to blame Jews for everything and anything under the sun.
