Re: Armenian & African-American Communities : An imperceptable genocidal link ?
Well there are political gains to be made by living in the past, and playing on peoples emotions...not from those who did the wrong, but from those who you will exploit (emotionally/mentally) while selling yourself as their redeemer.
I'd rather see Armenians move on past the genocide and accept our own failings, so we can move towards the future. We don't like to talk about Armenian on Armenian abuse (of immigrants to the US in the early 20th century), or the murder of Leon Tourian, or the cold war battles (CIA/KGB) by Armenian communists, socialists and Tashnags), Armenian-on-Armenian violence during the genocide, or the sex-slave trade problem. The Genocide is a distraction to our REAL problems, and our socio-political maturity. Those who fight the hardest for the genocide are the ones who don't want to see our community truly blossom and bear fruit.
Unlike blacks, who accept inter-marriage easily, we Armenians are a dying orchard, and it is because of our pride and prejudice.
