Now, count how many times after my post and before this one that the word "Jew" was used!

Next person to perpetuate Jew-related talk in the forum (regardless of what side of the issue you're on) gets banned...period.

Thanks for the welcome. No need for explanation, now that we're all aware lets stick to the rules - thanks.

So, back to the original question, if the Genocide, as many have said was a mixture of both Islam domination and just ethnic cleansing, then why can't Turkey recognize that? If the Young Turks were not even part of the Turkish government that exists today, why can they not recognize? Isn't it that simple?

why can't they recognize it? They can! It's just going to take time. In my opinion the Turkish authority promotes an image of the military and government / state being above everything else. This image is one of extreme pride, strength and righteousness. Should the entire world find out that in a moment of ethnic and religious hatred and toxic nationalism this very same military and government / state got caught up in an event that was nothing to be proud of, and displayed nothing short of extreme weakness and injustice.

About the difference between the Ottoman Government and the Turkish government there are complex issues with this. Some purport that they are not the same thing. Some that they are.

We have to individually ask ourselves: "Did anything change between the Ottoman and Turkish administrations?"

Why individually, if Turkey is responsible, who has the power in this world to tell them off? Why is it that because of the Cold War, the US still feels that it is obligated to be friends with Turkey...But if Turkey restricted air space to the US during the Afghani war, then why do we still side with them on the issue of Armenian Genocide...

Because TUrkey is the only country in that region to serve stabilty.
We are in the middle of most instable regions, middleeast caucusia and Balkans. Turkey holds this region in one piece. Without Turkey there wont be any stabilty. Thats why Turkey is very important country.

About the Afgan thing, Turkey serves as the leading/commanding force for the international force there. Turkey also has very strategic importance for Afganistan. US does not support Turkey out of blue. YOu might not like it but these are the facts.

Hovik you said you would ban the next person on this thread to discuss jews.
So do these anti-semitic rants from Sensei count?

To anyone tempted to believe a word the anti-semite here has said answer this.

If the Jews had so much power in the early 20th century explain the Holocaust.

It had NOTHING to do with them. Neither the one in WWI or the one in WWII.
Because of israel and the jewish lobbies who dictate USian foreign policy. Why else would the US be trying to knock off all of israel's enemies much to its own harm and detriment?
I would think that posts Adolph Hitler would agree with would be an instant ban anyway on a forum about the Armenian Genocide.

                  I AGREE!!

This is a place for us Armenians to vent, to talk about what had actually happened on April 24, 1915 and what kept occurring for the next 8 years. We are NOT here to disscuss anything that has relevance to the Jews, last time I checked, we are Armenian, not Jewish.

And Sensei, in America, that sort of stuff WILL get you killed! So STOP!! It is not funny, smart, nor does it show anything good about yourself...Those remarks bring you down, as low as Adolph himself, and if you feel that that is a good thing, than SO HELP YOU *&^!

Turkey occupies land that is extremely valuable. Its a crossover between east and west, its land that has thousands of years of history, there are many palces religiously significant to the major faiths, it occupies part of Mesopotamia, is a border to major petrol producers, has a population of around 70-80 million etc. etc. All or some of these are just some of the reasons why the US may still be allies with Turkey in addition to its being relatively stable and the only islamic majority country with a properly functioning democracy (in spite of the many coups in the past few decades). I guess its just too big and powerful a country to ignore and given the fact that it can summon a few million soldiers if needed makes it a considerable military power. Recently an over 7% growth rate is bettering its economy and lots of capitalists have come to realise that the Turkish market is quite virgin and untapped where they can flood there goods in. These are just some of the good parts of it. There are of course many many negatives to it too but I think this should give you an idea why any country may in good terms with Turkey. Not just because of some lobbyists and people lobbying for Turkey (if not Turkish) are doing because of the above reasons, not because Turks are angels.

I think you meant the iraqi war not afgani.
