What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

FILM TO BE SHOT AGAINST SO-CALLED GENOCIDE ALLEGATIONS

    Turkish Press
    Oct 20 2005

ISTANBUL - Turkish and Spanish film companies will shoot a film named
"Ayak Izleri" (Footprints) to disprove so-called Armenian genocide
allegations by historical realities, said Vedat Sen, the owner of
B&V Production MED moviemaking company and the director of the film.

Holding a press conference in Turkish metropolis of Istanbul today,
Sen said, "the film will start to be shot in two months, and be
finished in 4-5 months. It will be shown in Turkey next year, and in
    other countries later."

On the other hand, Leon Hekim, the representative of Spanish filmmaking
company Max Corporation in Turkey, said that Europe was assuming an
unfair and prejudiced attitude against Turkey.

Noting that the Ottoman Empire had always protected the Armenian
society, Hekim said that they would explain all these realities in
    their film.

Once the movie is out, can we file a lawsuit against the production company? I'm sure we can and we will. Imagine someone making a movie denying the Holocaust! These people are pathetic.

I'm sure our lazy American Armenian Organizations will not. It has been the European Armenian Orgs who have taken aggressive legal action against such things. I trust they will do something about it - they always seem to get results. I wish we had more effective Orgs in the States...

BELGIAN COURT FINDS REGIONAL OFFICIAL GUILTY OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE DENIAL

-- Brussels Court Returns Verdict Designating Emir Kir as a Genocide Denier

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM (Monday 14 November 2005) - A civil court in Belgium has
returned a verdict finding Emir Kir (Socialist Party), the State Secretary
of the Brussels region of Belgium, a "liar," and "denier" in connection
with his statements and actions concerning the Armenian Genocide. Kir has
said that he will appeal the verdict.

The court proceedings began after Kir lodged a complaint against the
administrators of a website www.suffrage-universel.be, Messrs Mehmet Koksal
and Pierre-Yves Lambert, on the grounds that the website misrepresented
him. The accusations included the charge that Kir had falsely claimed to
have an educational degree, that he had taken liberties with the law on
electoral expenses, that he had taken part in demonstrations denying the
Armenian Genocide, and that he had articulated positions denying this crime
against humanity. The finding against Kir confirms that Armenian Genocide
denial is not protected freedom of expression, but rather a profound moral
outrage which can be denounced as such.

The verdict clearly spells out that the Court "considers as an established
fact that the demonstration [in which Mr. Kir took part] actually aimed to
refute - hence to deny - that the crime committed against the Armenians by
the Ottoman Turkey in 1915-1916 constituted a genocide." The court
rejected Kir's claim that his refusal to use the term genocide was due to
the fact that an independent committee of historians has yet to make this
determination. The Court noted that, by "deliberately ignoring the
extensive documentation that already exists" Kir was effectively denying
        the Armenian Genocide.

The Court found that the authors of the website were "by no means wrong" in
applying the "denier" characterization to Kir, and went on to note that
this type of clear labelling of deniers serves the common good and advances
the purposes established by Belgian law to penalize Armenian Genocide
        denial.

"This verdict could not be more timely - coming as it does at the moment
when Ankara is launching legal actions around the world against public and
private institutions that teach truthfully about the Armenian Genocide,"
said Laurent Leylekian, the Executive Director of the European Armenian
Federation. "Through this court action, Belgian civil society is calling
on Belgian legislator to impose strict penalties on the denial of the
Armenian Genocide, officially imposing sanctions against all those, who
through their denials, insult to the dignity of Armenians and all
Belgians. As such, we ask Minister of Justice, Mrs Onkelinx, and the
Senate to reactivate the draft law on this subject that they had previously
        tabled," added Leylekian.

"It is urgent that Europeans formally criminalize denial before Turkey - the
denier State that has applied for membership in the European Union - has
the opportunity to seek to impose its denials on Europe from
within. Belgium should and must be on the front lines of this noble
        effort," concluded Leylekian.

What these Turks simply don't understand is that we welcome them to make such a movie...as it can only be based on untruth and distortion it will be shown for such and by its very existance it further prooves our points concerning the fanatic hateful and cowardly Turkish denial. So Bring it On! - as it were

Erdem: We Reiterated Our Calls To Armenia For Compromise

ERDEM: WE REITERATED OUR CALLS TO ARMENIA FOR COMPROMISE

                Turkish Press
                Nov 16 2005

COPENHAGEN - "We reiterated our calls to Armenia for compromise," NATO
Parliamentary Assembly Vice-President Vahit Erdem said on Wednesday.

NATO Parliamentary Assembly meetings in Copenhagen, Denmark, ended.

"Turkey expressed its wish and will to improve bilateral relations
with Armenia. However, Armenia should abide by international rules,
change some articles in its constitution, give up showing Eastern
Anatolia Region as Armenian territory, and recognize the Kars Treaty,"
                Erdem said following the meetings.

Calling on the other member countries to put pressure on Armenia
which has occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories and forced
nearly 1 million people to leave their homes and become refugees, Erdem
indicated that it was Armenia which benefit most from a normalization
                of Turkish-Armenian relations.

Yesterday, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan also referred
to the issue in his address to NATO Parliamentary Assembly. He said,
"we have opened our air space to Armenian aircraft. Also, we have
initiated cargo transportation from Yerevan to Istanbul. Our government
has ordered restoration of an Armenian church in eastern city of
Van. On the other hand, we have opened our archives to enlighten
historical facts. We expect Armenia to do the same.

Genocide has never been a part of our history. It is a serious mistake
to accuse a government, which had to relocate some of its people due
                to uprisings, of genocide."

Erdogan Has Made A Row In Denmark

ERDOGAN HAS MADE A ROW IN DENMARK

                  DeFacto News Agency, Armenia
                  Nov 16 2005

European Union will admit Turkey, as it is in the interests of the
EU and Turkey, Turkish PM Rejep Tayip Erdogan stated while speaking
at the hearings initiated by Politician newspaper in Copenhagen.

According to Freedom Radio Station, different issues, including
democratic amendments and women's rights in Turkey were discussed
at the hearings. Erdogan admitted the fact that there were some
shortcomings in the sphere; however, he rejected the information
concerning tortures in the Turkish prisons.

In Denmark Turkish PM met a group of NATO PA deputies and touched
upon Armenian - Turkish relations in the course of the talk. "We have
opened air service with Armenia", said Erdogan having added Turkish
government allocated funds for the restoration of Akhtamar Armenian
church in the east of Turkey.

Citing Erdogan, Associated Press notes the territory used to be
Armenians' cultural center; however, they were deported from there
during World War I. Armenians consider it to be a genocide, but Turks
resolutely reject the fact. "We have opened our archives. If Armenia
has got archives, it also ought to open them. Our documents do not
testify to the genocide", stated Erdogan.

Speaking at the Parliamentary hearings on November 15 Turkish
FM Abdullah Gyul stated, "Armenian party is trying to distort our
history by groundless condemnations". In his words, Turkey "suggested
that Armenia should form a joint commission to study historic facts,
however, Armenian party has not answered positively to the proposal".

The matter concerns Turkish PM's message sent to RA President Robert
Kocharyan in current April. To remind, RA President answered it and
proposed that a bilateral intergovernmental commission should be
formed to discuss and settle all the problems between the countries.

Ankara has not reacted upon the proposal, which may be considered as
                  unwillingness to solve the problems.

By the way, a row was kicked up during Turkish PM's visit to Denmark.

Rejep Tayip Erdogan refused to conduct a joint press conference
with Head of Denmark's government Anders Rasmussen. By means of such
a demarche Turkish leader voiced his protest against the country's
stand on Roj - TV Company reflecting the Kurds' interests. Having
learned journalists from Roj TV were present at the press conference
Turkish PM demanded that they should leave the conference hall. When
Anders Rasmussen retorted saying the kingdom's government did not
interfere with private mass media's activity Erdogan refused to
conduct a press conference and left for the airport, CNN - Turk
reports. Head of Denmark's government had to hold a briefing alone
and said he regretted the incident.
