Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged

    A large explosion took place at the Diyarbakir branch of HSBC Bank Wednesday evening, though no deaths or injuries were reported in the incident the blast incurred major property damage to the bank office.

    No motive has been determined yet in the explosion that occurred around 19.45 at the HSBC branch in Dortyol, Diyarbakir, a southeastern Turkish city. No deaths or injuries were reported but local citizens were on edge as special bomb destruction teams examined the bank branch. An ambulance was called to the scene in case of possible injuries, and Brigade forces were present upon reports of a vehicle leaking gas in the region. Diyarbakir Police Chief Zeki Catalkaya examined the crime scene to determine the cause of the explosion. The motive and cause of the explosion will be announced after authorities complete their investigations.

    Diyarbakir Mayor Osman Baydemir yesterday called on both local residents and the state to take necessary precautions to ensure a peaceful Nevruz celebration.

    He also warned that there may be provocations meant to cloud the joy of the celebrations and urged people not to be taken in by agitation.

    The annual Kurdish spring festival of March 21, next Tuesday, is remembered for demonstrations that often turn violent and altercations between security forces and Kurdish people.

    Fearing similar unrest from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), particularly in the wake of Semdinli bombings several months ago, the Interior Ministry issued a notice urging demonstrators to use only Turkish flags in the demonstrations.

    The National Security Council (MGK), a council that brings together key figures of the government with the top military brass, discussed the risk of provocation in the forthcoming Nevruz festival at their latest meeting last week. Security forces fear that terrorists could plot mass attacks.

    Baydemir, a mayor from the Democratic Society Party (DTP), said that they are working hard in order to ensure that a big crowd takes part in the occasion, adding that the festival is open to everyone.

    Festival Committee head Necdet Atalay said that they applied to the Diyarbakir Governor's Office for official permission and that they're awaiting a reply.

    But the DTP's invitation to Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, and the president of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, have been criticized by some of the Turkish press as a provocation.

      Yesterday a prosecutor called Kurdish people "so-called people" in an indictment he had prepared against a demonstrator on charges of praising a terrorist organization and defying the police.

      Prosecutor Muammer Ozcan is facing criticism from Diyarbakir Baro Head Sezgin Tanrikulu and from Devrim Baris Baran, lawyer of the accused demonstrator Osman Uzan, who also reproached the expression.

      Baran, stressing the possibility that the word might have been miswritten, said that if the expression was written purposefully, it could only be the outcome of the state's long-winded and systematic policy of denial.

      Uzan was arrested in a demonstration in Diyarbakir two months ago on charges of propagating in favor of Abdullah Ocalan, leader of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), and of hurling stones at police officers.

      Tanrikulu warned that such humiliating expressions deepen the chasm of separation between the Kurdish and the Turkish people. He argued that Turkey should alter this mentality, and used the example of the prosecutor's indictment as an example.

                Two local televisions and one radio station, which have been authorized by the Turkish Radio and Television Board (RTUK) to broadcast in Kurdish, are set to commence their Kurdish-language program broadcasts on March 23.

                Diyarbakir-based Gun TV and Soz TV, and Sanlıurfa-based Medya FM Radio station signed an approval agreement with the Radio Television Watchdog on Friday to commence their programs.


                The local TV channels will air a total of four hours of programs weekly while radio stations will broadcast a total of five hours weekly. However, daily TV programs in Kurdish may not exceed 45 minutes while daily radio programs will be restricted to one hour
