Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

It actually saved lives by not prolonging the war, probably saved millions of lives.

Exactly. There could have been another way. But then all they could think of was starving millions of Japanese to death or allowing the Soviet Union to capture some of mainland Japan (which would have happened had the US tried a land invasion, in fact the stats were there to show the first invasion force would have failed). The war would have taken many more years with a land invasion. The bomb wasn't the best way but the only way they could think of at the time.

Japan had already surrendered before the atomic bombs were used. Those cities were specifically chosen due to their size, etc. It was a test of their capability. This is American/Herya propaganda. Look how technologically advanced the Japanese are even AFTER getting bombed back to the stone ages.

The Japanese in the US were rounded up and sent to internment camps... for being US citizens... nice.

Agree with KH, the US bombed an area filled with civilians, not military personel, to say that its fair that a nuke gets dropped on women and children because the US got their military attacked isn't that fair

I would also like to remind here that the U.S. has never claimed any land from anyone. Not anyone in the world. If the American ship wasn't attacked in WWII, the US wouldn't have gone to war even then.

Not only that, the fire bombs that were dropped on Tokyo and other cities were much more lethal and frightening than the atomic bombs... the atomic bombs were unnecessary.

Also, Germany had surrendered just days before the Soviets declared war on Japan, meaning that not only would Japan be fighting the US, and British forces but also the Soviets.

That's true, it isn't at that.

But I believe that the US sent the Japanese US citizens to internment camps because they didn't trust the Japanese right after Pearl Harbour. But after a while I believe they freed them.

Racism runs deeper than that Anoush.

Once the bombing on Pearl Harbour happened racism came to a head. British Columbians started to blame all their troubles and problems on the Japanese. Japanese people were blamed for everything from a bad crop to a flat tire. The scared people of BC cried out, wanting the BC Government to deal with the problem as they saw it-Japanese Canadians. The people of British Columbia wanted to feel safe in their homes again and they wanted Prime Minister Mackenzie King to rid Canada of people of Japanese orign. They were causing a threat to Canada (or so it was believed by the public.) Mackenzie King wanted the votes from B.C. so he was more than happy to do what they asked. Mackenzie's first order of business was to incarcerate all Japanese males between the ages 14 and 45. They were ordered to move more than 160 km inland. This was to "safe guard" the pacific coast from Japanese spies. The Canadian government took away all of the Japanese fishing fleets, in order to protect Canada.

Innocent Japanese Canadians were stripped of their rights, issued special clothing, humiliated, thrown behind barb wire fences, and were forced to do manual labour.

Living in interment camps was a hard life to live. Many families were forced to live in cramped quarters with ten other families sharing one stove. Some camps such as Slocan city; didn't have the resources to house the huge amounts of people coming into the camps. Many Japanese were placed in tents until there were houses available. One would think that moving from a tent to a house would be a step up, but this was not true. Most houses consisted of panel board with no insulation, rickety walls and maybe a stove. During the harsh cold winters many Japanese put lanterns under their beds to try and keep warm.

Despite their race, they were still Canadian citizens, but Canada chose not to recognize them as equals just because of the war. Many believed that the internment camps were manifested out of British Columbian's hatred for the Japanese.

Lets hope that generations to come can learn from our mistakes, our ignorance, and realize that just because something comes in a different colour or a different shape doesn't mean it is bad, or that it is wrong..... so we hope.

Yep. But the fact is this. They honestly believed this bombing was winning the war. The problem was they not only wiped out the military but the people too. There was a military base at the places they bombed actually. But that was besides the point, they dropped the bombs to show Japan resistance was futile and that they should just accept the unconditional surrender. Also the Japanese had not surrendered before the bombs, they were merely discussing it. A misconception there.

As for internment camps, both sides had those. The Nazi's and Japanese had worse ones though.

Shouldn't we be getting back on topic btw?
