There is a difference between freedom and licence/freedom:the power to act,speak,or think without externally imposed restraints/licence:excessive freedom ;lack of due restraint,freedom to deviate deliberately from the normally applicable rules or practices. When a person says(I'm going to kill you) they get arrested not for a thought crime but their stated criminal intentions/if a person kills someone and says(I didn't do it)they get arrested and or shot.

There are 500,000-600,000 Turks in France VS 400,000-500,000 Armenians in France. The bill wasn't even Sarkozy's idea but the Socialist party's and the bill had support from all sides of the political spectrum (left, right, centre).

Sarkozy has been losing ground to the Socialists and Le Pen. Whilst I can see how it would build pressure on Turkey. The problem with criminalizing AG denial in Europe is that it constitutes interference in European affairs.

They most likely did it in an effort to get the Armenian voters on their side. But I guess it doesn't really matter.
