Zhoghovurd: Serj Tankian getting married today

System of a Down vocalist Serj Tankian is getting married in Los
    Angeles on Saturday.

Citing its sources, the paper says that the wedding ceremony, set to
take place on one of the city's outskirts, will be attended only by
closest friends and relatives, including Turkish-Armenian vocalist
Arto Tunvboyaciyan, cellist Armen Manukyan and keyboardist Vardan
    Hovsepyan.

Tankian's fiancée, Angela Madatyan, is said to be a native of
    Armenia's third largest city, Vanadzor

    Oh yeah? How were they?

Based off of the post-reunion YouTube bootlegs, sounds like Serj lost that nasal tone to his voice that marred his singing for the past 5 years. Looking forward to witnessing that live. Pity that he doesn't scream anywhere near as much as he used to, though.

I've seen them plenty of times, the first time I ever saw them was when they had a free show @ Best Buy in Burbank
Last time I saw them was in San Diego...actually Chula Vista

Seeing them this summer for the first time. Seat tickets, but should be able to sneak into the floor pit should security be sufficiently lax.

i'm an appreciator of all types of music. soad is no exception. i found both serj's & daron/john's solo endeavors to be satisfying, but nothing like soad's spirit and musical treasures.

when serj went solo, it took me a while to adjust to the style of "elect the dead". however, with "imperfect harmonies" maybe i was a bit more acclimatized so it was more well received. both albums are powerful and brilliant. the messages have depth and intelligence.

as for scars on broadway, i think they came and went like a match lit in the wind. a bit too poppy for my taste (but tasteful "non-pop"). i still credit daron for making some great music. the message was somewhat obscure and covert, but it still towed the soad mentality. unfortunately, i felt daron was suffering when i would watch his live performances... he appeared lost.

over all, i am very excited of their reuniting and look forward to seeing them thrash on stage! i believe the soad are a great group of musicians, activists, and guys. most important, they are armenian. they promote the armenian name into public consciousness (i feel the same for the kardashians). more people are becoming aware of the armenians through these various platforms. it's up to us to educate them about the rest of our history and culture.

I though Serj Tankian's Elect the Dead was decent.

Ugh.... why must we be so uselessly arrogant? We were talking about their return, and before we even got into the subject, a hater had to share his negative thoughts, and someone had to turn the discussion toward that. If you don't like it, then that's your choice. Oh, and also, no one really cares -- it's not the type of music everyone likes and I understand this, I don't like it much either, but at least it's famous Armenian-related news.

So back to my question: what do you guys think of SOAD's personal creations since the "indefinite hiatus"/breakup of the band?
