Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    The Kids Are All Right

The Kids Are All Right is a perfect example of a film I would secretly love to make, if I ended up making films for either the Disney or Lifetime channel. I don't mean that as an insult, either. The Kids Are All Right is a film with a lot of heart with rather tender moments full of authenticity. The film, as a whole, however, feels too much like a sitcom or soap opera. The episodic structure becomes predictable and feels more like a conventional family film rather than anything more.

The film features terrific performances by all characters, including Annette Bening. Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo are also entertaining with their characters. I was also surprised by Mia Wasikowska, who plays the role of an innocent teenager on the cusp of adulthood very believably. The film is problematic because of its structure and conventionality, and leaves you wondering why the moments of pure sincerity couldn't be emphasized more deeply. I was touched by moments of The Kids Are All Right, but felt wanting more of the authenticity it presented itself in certain key moments.

      Another Year

I love films that depict the day in the life of a character. In Another Year, Mike Leigh depicts the year in the life of two main characters, Tom (Jim Broadbent) and Gerri (Ruth Sheen). Tom and Gerri are a happily married couple, and have endured all the obstacles in their lives, together, because they love each other. The film allows us to enter their lives, over the course of the four seasons.

There are various characters that enter their lives and home, all of whom are, in one form or another, unhappy. Mary (Lesley Manville) drinks too much, talks over others, and is quite a presence. Mary admires the love that Tom and Gerri share, and wishes she could experience it herself. Ken (Peter Wight) is overweight, makes love to his food, and is alone. If Ken could clean himself up, perhaps he could find someone to care for as well. These characters, in particular, are misfortunate, while Tom and Gerri are the lucky ones in life, who don't have to experience such problems.

There are moments of authenticity in this film, as well as several heartbreaking instances. In specific, when Mary flirts with Joe (Oliver Maltman), Tom and Gerri's son, you can't help but look away, as she awkwardly crashes and burns. In the final act, we also meet Ronnie (David Bradley), Tom's brother. Ronnie's wife has passed away, and we, along with the characters, attend her funeral. It's a heartbreaking scene, as Ronnie aimlessly tries to continue with his life. In a later scene, Ronnie meets Mary. In her own devastated mess, Mary naturally tries to pull conversation from Ronnie, who is a grief-stricken. Ronnie replies with nothing more than a "yeah" or "nah."

Mike Leigh makes us understand these two characters and their inner thoughts, and fully allows us to experience their emotions in the final shot of the film. In the final scene, the camera spins around Tom, Gerri, Joe and his girlfriend, Katie (Karina Fernandez), who are all happy and merry. The camera then turns around to reveal Mary and Ronnie, sitting in silence, painfully looking from the outside in, at the lives they wish they had. Ronnie is a tragic man, who has presumably lost such love, or has perhaps never experienced such a love so deep. Mary is a broken woman, who enviously looks over at Joe, wishing she could experience true love and happiness, but will unfortunately forever yearn for such moments.

                  Midnight in Paris

I remember setting my eyes on the Eiffel Tower for the first time. I was walking the streets of Paris with my family, and I could see the tip of the tower from a distance, peeking from behind a building. I was both overwhelmed and fascinated, and a few steps later, I was standing in front of the Eiffel Tower.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides " 6.5/10

Not bad, but not as good as it's predecessors, there's most likely going to be a 5th installment and I'll most likely go see it.

Don't bother seeing it in 3d also, it doesn't kill the film but it really doesn't do anything for it, especially if you go to a theater where 3d movie ticket prices cost more, it's better to spend it on some extra popcorn or candy.
