Dear Wendy is fantastic! I loved that movie! Nothing very complicated but very interesting nonetheless. I have to see more from Vinterberg. And Lars von Trier's story and script were great. One thing I love about Lars von Trier is how his stories take place in our world but not quite in our world and how he makes his point by dragging concepts into absurdism. And also how he can make you appreciate characters whether through pathos or empathy even though they live in a completely different world. You can identify with people that not only don't exist but can't exist. He uses humor in a clever way to pull you into the logic of the film. And Vinterberg understood this very well.

Quite a few of Lars Von Trier's films take liberties when it comes to dogme rules and use the idea as more of a guideline than anything.
Too many restrictions? I disagree. Strongly. It puts restrictions, yes, and that is its purpose, but what makes it "too many?" You may not enjoy dogme films but that doesn't mean they suffer creatively relative to other films that don't have such constraints.
I thought The Celebration was more than ok.
