Russians haven't confirmed entering Gori -- we do know that Georgians abandoned this position.

      1. The US position if hypocritical especially after Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, etc.
      2. Saakashvilli was a fool for initiating the war
      3. It is not in the US interest to confront Russia.

Only the hardcore Republicans and Neocons are defending Georgia.
Yep, I saw the same of BBC's "Have your say" and ABC's responses to todays article on the conflict.

Encouraging. After this whole farce of the war in Iraq, many Americans are finally waking up.

YEREVAN, Armenia (AFP)--Georgia has abruptly reduced the volume of Russian natural gas shipped to neighboring Armenia via Georgian territory, a spokesman for the Armenian state gas monopoly told AFP on Monday.

"There has been a reduction of gas delivered to Armenia from Russia via Georgia," ArmRosgazprom spokeswoman Shusha Sardarian said. Media reports said a 30% supply reduction occurred with no advance warning.

That is one of the unfortunate by-products of the war. It will normalize soon and things will get even better for Armenia when a new Georgian administration comes to power and Georgia stops messing around with Armenia.

Or even better, Armenia shares a border with Russia.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

I'm happy to see that Turks are leaving, but sad to see that Armenian citizens of Georgia might be forced to go to war on its behalf.
It is reminiscent of the Azeris throwing their minorities on the front line in their doomed war.

Javakhk Relatively Calm after Georgian Attack on Ossetia

AKHALKALAK (A-Info)--As military activities in Georgia escalated following Thursday's attack by the Georgian armed forces on South Ossetia, there is relative calm in the mainly Armenian-populated region of Samtskhe-Javakheti in southern Georgia bordering Armenia.

The Georgian government has ordered all draft-age individuals to not leave the country.

According to unofficial sources, 12 Armenian officers from Akhalkalak and Ninidzminda have left for the military zones,
while the entire police departments of Aspindza and Akhaltskha have moved to Tbilisi.

Turkish construction experts and contractors working on the Kars-Akhalkalak-Baku railway have fled the country in a panic and have returned to Turkey.

The Tsalka portion of the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline is being protected by special military forces.

Situations like this one is why it's almost impossible to be an Armenian in the Diaspora. Which side should the Armenians choose, to defend the land of their birth or to help their ancestral nation and help Russia?
