Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

This man would would make a great president. Unfortunately, the powers that be in the media (and you know who they are) will make sure this never happens.

He is a bit too much of an extremist for my tastes but I definitely have a lot of respect for him. I don't think I would vote for him though if he were a candidate (depends on who else is an option).

The only thing that really bothers me about him is his strong anti-abortion stance. But at least he is not in favor of making this an "absolute" at the federal level.

Do you use the word "extremist" with some sort of negative connotation in the idea that Paul's proposals are dangerous for the country? Or do you simply mean that his opinions are farthest from the "mainstream" and therefore extreme? Then again what so wrong with change? Especially such a screwed up system?

I agree that some of Paul's platform regarding social might be too far right but his foreign policy moves and changes in the style bureaucracy being used far outweigh these issues. On top of that I think Paul would focus much more on fixing up not only our political institutions in regards to foreign relations but also help the publics sheepish mentality on such issues. I don't think his focus would be so much on social issues. I guess to each his own in regards to the preference given to certain issues, but IMO Paul would do much more good than damage.

Re: Ron Paul speaks truth to power!

I always use the word "extremeist" in a negative context. Not every federal program is evil. However, certainly there is far too much waste and far too much unneccessary spendings on the part of the government.

Perhaps the stage can be set for someone like Paul to step in in about 10-15 years ... but right now, sticking him into the whitehouse might shake things too much too quickly.

For now, I really like Barak's view of opening up all of the government books and making them public. Public acounting of EVERY dollar will go a long way of reforming the "shady" spending where a lot of times the public doesn't really know where it's money is going.

As far as his views on the federal reserve ... I think his view is definitely intriguing but I am not sure if the right thing to do is to get rid of it.

His stance on abortion, while personal, is also very much based on what the Constitution mandated, i.e., federalism. Roe v. Wade was by that definition an incorrect decision.

He is perhaps the only consistent candidate, like him or hate him, and that is a rarity in politics given the last 100+ years.

And yes TomServo, just maybe, just maybe, Paul is gonna make me get off my rocking chair and actually vote, but then I would be selling out, so I have not decided yet.

That still won't change the inherent system of government inefficiency. Any bureaucracy that grows out of proportion is only clogging up and creating inefficiency. Opening record books or not is irrelevant and it is just the illusion that Obama brings. His Democratic-style socialistic approach to statecraft is exactly what this deficit and debt ridden country does not need. On top of that, he is a flip flopper and if not directly has indirectly supported the current unjust war.

The Federal Reserve is part of the problem of why we have the current dollar crisis and recession (housing bust). Granted there have always been potentials for boom and bust cycles, however, post-1913 these have been guaranteed and in very severe ways have occurred in 10 year cycles.

Maybe a few years after the mainstream media guides Obama or Clinton into office, the USA will collectively look back on the time when they had a chance to elect someone who was primarily concerned with the welfare of the average American, instead of the abundance of corporate profits for the military-industrial complex.

Maybe they'll finally learn that prevention is better than cure, especially when there's no longer a cure available.
