Re: Label Me.
You're normal. Every organized person I know who can adhere to any sort of daily schedule has some level of OCD. Don't look into it so much, be glad you have this "disorder" as it'll serve you well in your life of business and dealing with people.
However, you should instead focus on including beneficial activities to your daily routine, like reading, advancing your career in some way, working out, etc.
For example: I'll go insane if I don't atleast learn one new piece of info relating to my career every day. Sure, it'll add a little more pressure on myself to stick to this, but in the end, I'll be a slightly better professional because of it.

Re: Label Me.
It really does sound like OCD. There are so many varieties. Having repeated thoughts about certain things which you consider often to be unreasonable, yet not knowing what causes you to have them and you can't help having them and feeling guilty...that sounds like OCD. I believe it's a little difficult because you can't keep your thoughts under control, they just flow against your wishes. I think that medication can stabilize this. It's really a more common condition than we think. But then again, I am full of ignorant comments, so what do I know?

Re: Label Me.
My grandmother seems to have ocd for certain things, she comes to see us every day, it pains her not to, and my sister is quite hostile towards here, but my grandmother takes it and still needs to come for whatever inner reason it is to help take care of us in the only way she knows how (even though we've reached an age where we can take care of ourselves).
Imo, this is just a personality THING, not a personality disorder as it is casually called. Disorder automatically puts a negative spin on it. We all have "disorders", and we can definitely eliminate or downplay some of them with the use of drugs, why does it have to be restricted to ocd, or adhd? These are just personalities that many people seem to inherit through genes and serve a variety of purposes that provide advantages for those individuals in a society bigger than themselves. Of course, they have side effects that seem to come into light when you live in 21st century America with norms that are much different from what we've traditionally evolved with.
If you want to know "the root" of all this, that is what I have to say.
One-Way, just be open about certain traits in your personality that you feel people should know, like you did in this thread. The pressure should not be all on you, society is full of average cookoo heads and weirdos who all have to pass as "relatively normal", what's important is that you love certain people in your life, and you love certain things, have certain goals, and life will prompt you to grow and change along the way anyway, regardless of the best efforts of your ocd.Last edited by jgk3; 08-09-2008, 12:58 PM.
