Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I agree with Tamar. Homosexuality is no longer a DSM category, rather it is one expression of human sexuality. Unfortunately, in cultures where every detail of one's life has to serve a larger ideology and be placed at the service of "big men", anything that doesn't fall in line is immediately denounced and called "unnatural", "foreign", etc. It's not just homosexuality that these guys are against. My sense is that they are in a time and place where they are feeling somewhat emasculated and are dreaming of some future situation that resembles some idealized past where men were men and women were women, etc... A situation where people didn't have to earn respect and deference, but rather were granted it implicitly because of what is between their legs, or because of how much muscle their menfolk can wield.

I, too, wish you all the best and hope you can find a way to open up to your parents. I think the parental bond is a powerful one, and yes, parents can be surprisingly supportive and open minded.

I can't believe how disgusting both your personalities are. who are you to tell me what my 'duty' is? its so disgusting that you say women are useless if they don't have babies. you can say the same thing about men. why don't we all just force 14 yr old girls to marry 30 yr old men so they can serve their 'duties' more efficiently...eliminating her opportunities for an education and a life for herself.
and moz, you really need to check up on your definition of feminism. i have told you that before. feminism is about EQUALITY and not superiority. believing that men and women are equal doesn't turn someone lesbian. if you do know the actual meaning of feminism, your saying that men should have authority over women?
It's about protecting and emphasising the traditional role of woman in society. No one is oppressing woman, that being said, woman are very important in strengthening our nation and our future generation. As I said every Armenian has duty to help/strengthen Armenian nation. Selective abortion is a deep problem in Armenia, for example the gender selective abortion. We need to do anything to increase our growth rate, and if it takes banning contraceptive, let it be, ends justify the means.

haha, well except feminism usually turns into demonising men and characterising having a family and children as "backwards". Men yes have authority over women in the bigger decisions (finances, job, big decisions, etc) of course woman's input is often needed.

Angela Merkel? Another superstar afaic. German legal scholars are very engaged in trying to reconcile a multicultural Europe while preserving local, individual, and public processes. Look up the work of Armin von Bogdandy if you are interested in learning about the process.

As for David Cameron and the Brits? Multiculturalism is all fine and dandy as long as it's in the service of making Britain bigger and richer.

Just because these "leaders" are making political statements that tickle the right-leaning segments of their voters doesn't mean that what they are saying carries any weight, or that it can and should be generalized to include what goes on in the rest of the world. Also, multiculturalism isn't this unchanging, monolithic thing that, once achieved, remains in place unchanged for eternity. It is a process. In the United States it is very much a process that changes and evolves, just like people change and evolve.
No, the populace agrees with this sentiment and they are sick and tired of having their society ruined by it. Maybe US or Canada can have it because they are immigrant countries, but it's dangerous for nation-states like armenia.

The whole planet is overpopulated. The last thing we need is an increased birthrate anywhere! But the other thing is, Armenia cannot support the population it currently has. Why not make conditions such that people stop wanting to bolt out of there the first chance they get rather than trying to increase the population? Make it a place where productive, intelligent people can live freely and happily, and contribute to the growth and welfare of others rather than imposing these backward ideas that subjugate one portion of the population in favor of another.

The nation-state is an artificial construct, and as soon as the constructs that support it or are supported by it start to disintegrate, it has no choice but to follow.

You should have a look at this movie about North Korea: http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/4547...-Idea/overview

            And this one: http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/3109...-Mind/overview

This is what eventually happens when you go in the direction of traditionally-geared, male-dominated, globalism-hating nation states.

Conditions are improving, especially given our tough situation. And there's been slow positive growth in recent years. But of course very slow growth.

Nation-state is not artificial construct, especially compared to the multi-ethnic empires before it. Armenia will and has to remain a nation-state revolved around the Armenian people and nation.

demonising men is a very big sterotype. kinda like you thinking there were no armenian lesbians before me. why are you more qualified than a woman?

There's no such thing as a coincidence. You know what Freud said about slips of the tongue? If he were alive I'm sure he'd have plenty to say about slips of the keyboard, and he'd have an absolute field day with auto-correct!

If you love your mothers, read this book.
It's practically a pamphlet at 128 pages. It won't take you long at all and it would help provide some insight.

It's nothing to do with homosexuality, but since feminism is being mentioned as well as preserving "tradition"...
