Funny, but I'm not confused. Perhaps we should conduct a poll here to see how many people are confused by "This company is committed to hiring without regard to race, color, gender, sexual preference, or creed."

This assumes that companies will hire the best man for the job, yet hiring the best man for the job is itself discrimination.
Well, you can't hire everyone, now can you? Free market conditions dictate that a company must hire the person most qualified for the job. A company discriminates based on merit, rather than on the traits outlawed. This is dictated by economic reason as much as by moral imperative. This is another example of a straw man argument. There is no one in government (outside of Affirmative Action advocates), and certainly no one on this board that is against the practice of hiring the best person for the job.

One cannot do anything without somehow in some way discriminating against someone else.
One can do plenty without discriminating due to race, religion, gender, and sexual preference. Nonetheless, this is beside the point. Personal discrimination of any kind is not against the law. Discrimination based on these factors is outlawed only in hiring practices and in the admissions policies of state universities.

That is a natural human thing, a cognitive ability to differentiate. That above statements shows the idiocy of government policy in creating "equality", by stating some ambiguous phrase and assuming that the companies will not hire based on those criteria. How do we know that someone doesn't disriminate? Are we psychic to somehow tap into the mind of every employer and see their true motive of why they hired certain people?
No, you analyze their record. If they consistently pass over black or female or homosexual job candidates that are more qualified than the straight white male candidates they hired, then it is safe to say something is amiss. If they have a demonstrated practice of hiring the most qualified person in every instance, then it is likely they are not breaking the law. It isn't a perfect system, but you have yet to advance any more effective alternative.

Fairness is the best way to avoid violence. Annon has not realized yet that he is not the "white man". I would give him a few years to hit the street and realize this. For now it's all concepts.
