Nice thread dusk . There is something about flowers that brightens up every room and lifts your spirit, especially when the sent of a bouquet fills your senses. Personally I don't care for roses because they are so standard, too common and overly valued. Carnations I stay away from as well, they have always been associated with death for me, or Communist Parades.

These are only a few of which are my absolute favorites and are not a regular find at a local grocery store.

Magnolias have a very intoxicating scent, smell them for too long and you will wind up with a crackling headache.

Aries, you mentioned lily of the valley, that is another one of my very favorites and it blooms only for a month during an entire year. I remember with the first signs of spring Armenian tatikner (grandmas) used to sell those in a bunch. A small bouquet can fill an entire apartment with its splendid aroma.

Another one also mentioned is Lilacs. They also have a very sweet and fresh scent. Bloom only in May.

And my favorite flower is of course an orchid. As someone said "simply elegant". They are the most exquisite flowers, but very pretentious and require special care. A pot of orchids costs minimum $30 a pop, and that is so so quality.

            Finally simple but sweet peonies.

Ahh anileve those pictures are so calm, so soothing. I am at ease. I am relaxed. I have inner peace...like the beautiful petals on that lilac that have bloomed in presence of sunshine and the wind is gently hitting the petals as they exist to exude beauty creating a synthesis of pure elation.

My favorite is the Corpse Flower. It is large and smelly, just like this thread.

Is that sarcasm or is the owner of the Anonymouse handle just trying to give us a glimpse of his true self? Hmmmmmmm.

There's a type of rose called Leonidas-It's a very unique color-sort of like, brown/champagne, with a a hint of dry pink.

I tried to find a picture of it, but the ones in the pictures don't look exaclty the same-they look orange in the pictures.

                      but here they are.
