The idea of being a fan of a given sports team seems ridiculous to me. Bill Maher, responding to people that say "we won" when a team succeeds, said: "No, you didn't win anything... ten guys who, if they knew you would hate you, won." And it is true. Being loyal to a team because they supposedly represent your city does not make sense. It reflects absolutely nothing on the quality of your city or the coolness of the people in it. It represents the quality of a coach, who, mind you, may have come from another city, and the quality of trades and how much money the owners have and are willing to pay people who, even though they get payed milions to play a game, still have the audacity to get pissed off on the court and lie and make it seem like they are greatful to fans for being phucking stupid. If the players of two sports teams were miracluously swapped, suddenly everyone will be a fan of the new team. Why? If all of the players from a team split up and go to five or six different teams, does the fan now have five or six different favorites? Does he still support the new line-up of the orginal team? I watch sports to see a good game; I do not care who is playing and who is losing as long as it is an entertaining game to watch.

Indeed. Say that to Toronto Maple Leafs fans... Can you say LAME?

All this hoopla about the Sports fanaticism eludes. How the hell can anyone be fanatic about spectator sports? It seems to me only the simpletons and the nerfbrains would be fanatic about something that is absolutely pointless, other than to kill time and avoid hw.

Quite frankly, I hate the Lakers. I hope their whole team dies or something when the Laker bus or plane crashes. The hell with them. And I don't care if they win or lose, my life is perfectly left untouched either way. When these idiots start riots because of their favored team winning or losing, then I wish I had a private army I can march and shoot these bungholes.
        Achkerov kute.

All this anger over such a trivial issue that has no bearing on your life. Why?

Well, I like watching good hockey. I do have a favourite team, but not for any bandwagon reasons, such as the players being "hot" or the team being the local team. I respect certain teams and I prefer that they win rather than those who whine 24/7.

                  Sports > your lives

                  It's true, it's true.

i happen to agree with you dusken. seeing all these overy fanatic people with flags of there favorite 'citys' team logo on there cars, shirts, and what not gets really annoying, especially when the reason they like the team is not particulary for the whole team, or because they like one player who is a superstar, or simply because it represents your city.

and what was all that bullxxxx rioting going on at the staple center a few years back when the lame lakers lost? that was sort of a representation of the idiots living here (shrugs).

i agree anonymouse, i hope the whole team dies of cancer or something, or at least the dumbass fans who have no clue. (and im not talking about sports fans in general, im just talking about the pin head fans who dont know why they like a team, or liking a team for dumb reasons)
                    words are meaningless and forgettable...
words are very unnecessary, they can only do harm.
