        Gevo jan, get Verizon.

There coverage in Southern California is great and their prices are pretty reasonable as well.

If you've ever noticed, Cingular's and T-Mobiles reception is pretty similar. The reason being is because T-Mobile's service/coverage is shared with Cingular's satellites. And if you know about Cingular. Their service really sucks. I should know, because I switched from Cingular to Verizon.

Plus, Verizon has a lot of pretty crazy deals and packages. Their phones aren't so bad either.

I got myself a LG VX-6000 and managed to hack it to have mp3's as my ringtones and a whole lot more.

tell me about it....but check out the GSM service with ATT...read about it, its basically reception everywhere...so they say.

when does your contract end? the only reason i have it is because of the free incoming calls...direct connect is always sounding like the person is underwater...its a totaly business phone, that started to be used in construction...then some people got giddy with the walkie talkie xxxx

US is slowly switching over to GSM but it is still not there yet. That's why T-mobile and AT&T GSM are not that good. Verizon was CDMA based but they are also getting ready to switch to GSM. When exactly that will all be done I don't know ... but for now, I'll just stick with good'ol 800 Mhz CDMA verizon.
                  this post = teh win.

Wow I have never felt that I belonged to a thread as much as I do right now. Well I was a tech for Nextel for 2 1/2 years and I think I can help you. Alright, every cellphone carrier has their ups and downs. When PAC BELL came out, they were THE BEST. Everyone had reception everywhere. Then, as people started getting more and more familiar with cellphones, the reception turned to what it is today: CRAP! That goes for TMOBILE as well, since they share the same sites. Verizon wasn't such a "popular" company when they came out. THey used to be Airtouch. Their reception has improved DRAMATICALLY! They are basically tied with Nextel when it comes to reception. But, Nextel has had a very very steady growth. You will not experience and VERY HIGHS or VERY LOWS...Their reception, much like their service, has always had a steady journey. Verizon is going to be just like PAC BELL (now Cingular)...As people jump on the bandwagon and sign their 2 friggin year contracts, their reception is going to get worse and worse. Obviously when more people are using the same site, the reception for everyone detereorates. So, I say go with Verizon or Sprint or Cingular....Let me have my reception back...LOL J/K>> We used to get reports of new cell sites every month. Nextel is going strong and they spend ALOTTTT of money trying to better themselves. With every cellphone carrier, you will get spots where NO ONE has reception (mountains)...I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Nextel phone and I wouldn't trade it for the world!

**If you have a Nextel, and you're getting lousy reception, take it to a service center near you and have them check it out to see if it has any minor gliches, WHICH HAPPENS ALL THE TIME! That could affect your reception.

Wow. I should go back and work for them!
