I used to have Nextel, now I have Verizon. The reception is much better, plus the phone isn't the size of a brick anymore. With the Nextel, I never had reception on the 210 coming home to Tujunga and on La Tuna Canyon Road. With the Verizon I have reception all day long.

I have reception coming home... just not between la tuna and sunland on the freeway, but if i get off on sunland and take foothill east, i do... it's just a couple miles. *shrug*

Overall I think Nextel's better for me. When we went to Vancouver everyone had problems but me. All my friends ended up using my phone.

When I Airtouch, the service seemed better than it was w/ Verizon. I used to drop calls with Verizon. They have their network set up to bounce people around from cell site to cell site in order to accomodate the largest number of people possible, so it resulted in a lot of dropped calls and poor quality. I don't know if they've improved on that, but it doesn't really matter. The nextel works great for me.

I used to have Cingular after Verizon and I couldn't use the phone up Tujunga Canyon or at my house. I had to literally walk down my driveway to the street to check my voicemail cuz I had no reception at home.

Viol jan, but seriously she is right!!! Nextel has very rude customer service, they never want to help me.. and for some reasn my ontract has restarted after 2 years so i have to pay 150 bucks to cancel again.. i argued with them endlessly... its rediculouse.. t-mobile has very great customer service though.. my dad has it and iv called in for some stuff for him and they are sooo easy to get along with and helpfula nd dont charge a million bucks for a transaction!!... The nextell phone i have.. gosh i forget the model number the new colorful ones with the big as heck screena nd its like 20 lbs or so.. lol.. not to mention a damn brick!!!... i hate the phone, i hate the coverage, i used to have verizon and the cheapest phone, and still i like it better!!! my bro uses that now.. lol.. so yeah..and since i started workign for radio shack, i get like 800 minutes, for 20 bucks and free nights weekends etc... so i think verion is what im aiming for right now.. but thx all for the wonderful info and experiances ... it actually helped..

but its amazing how much cssing we can pack in a thread about cell phones.. lol.. oh and if you need verizon ohone come to radios shack in montrose .. hah.. little advertising there.. i wonder if i can get money from radio shack for that?... lol

I have the same problem driving to school every morning, i dont have receptioin from like Lowell till little past the canyon road... and rememebr my service is nextell... lol.. i dont have service at my home either, i have to cross the street and walk up the hill a little more and then it beeps. but still its very week and very annoying as i try to listen to the voicemail.. lol.. ANOYING! lol

yeah i basically have no choice but to stay nextel...verizon would run me 300 a month with overages and bs taxes

haha ur right, they have so much taxes, my plan is 59.99 with freaking taxes becoms 75-80 bucks. The only (-) is that.

then the long term contracts, the special deals that are only good for 3 months, then add on after that...blah blah blah... my ish is clear cut, ...

Going east or west on the 210? If I am coming from the west, heading east when I get to sunlandish I lose reception til I get almost to lowell.
