I'm currently a production coordinatorfor one of the leading prop placement companies in the entertainment industry.Originally posted by omniscientWhat do you do Genuine?
I'm constantly in talks with all the primetime television show producers, prop masters, costume designers, and set dressers. Additionally, I get to attend celeb events whenever our company has one. I've recently met Mark Whalberg, Melanie Griffith, James Woods, Ray Romano, Kevin James, and many others.
I love the job. It's great. But sometimes I wish I was still in college, because I loved the young and fun lifestyle it had.
*Hangs head*
Ahh man.............
.....college.........

I dunno, I prefer being out of college. I do miss taking courses purely for enjoyment but I prefer not having to do massive amounts of studying and stressing about stupid exams.
I've been out of school for my second year now and I can't say I'm itching to get back. Eventually I will, but not yet.

What do you do? I've been out of school only for about 4 months now and I'm already thinking of applying to grad school next year. I think if I don't do it while I'm still in the "school mode", I wont go back.Originally posted by ckBejugI dunno, I prefer being out of college. I graduated from usc a year and a half ago and now I work as an associate research scientist in molecular biology at Caltech. I need to be in 'work 18-20 hours a day mode' rather than 'school mode' if and when I go back to get my phd because it requires less 'studying' and more actual hands on research and experimentation....Originally posted by GSTracer05What do you do? Thats very impressive. I'm currently a Senior Manager at a Medical Center. I've reached my growth potential with the company so now I'm trying to move into Pharmaceutical Sales or management with companies such as Blue Cross, HealthNet, Medtronic, etc. What type of research are you working on? Or is it confidential?Originally posted by ckBejugI graduated from usc a year and a half ago and now I work as an associate research scientist in molecular biology at Caltech. People were telling me to go into Pharm sales right after graduation, when I was at a loss as to what to do next. It is a good money-maker and it's great because you get to travel around to wherever the next company/medical clinic it is you're selling to. The dolwnside, I think, is the pushing/selling of product. I don't think i'd be very good at selling something. It takes a certain charisma to get people to buy something from you and while I can be personable, I'm not a big seller.Originally posted by GSTracer05Thats very impressive. The research specifics are confidential, of course, but the main project is quite public. Alliance for Cellular Signaling: basically I spend hours upon hours cloning DNA and inserting and removing genes in the cellular signaling pathway (cell 'communication' pathway) to determine how cells transmit information to eachother and 'talk' through signaling...The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. -- F.
