Armenians are not persecuted in Syria or Lebanon. In fact, Lebanon has one or two Armenian ministers in its cabinet, and even its president, Emile Lahoud, is half-Armenian!
I've never heard anything of the sort on Fox News. I'm jumping to the conclusion based largely on what I've heard here. I thought you had said that your family had to leave Syria because you were Armenian. Maybe I remember incorrectly. Anyway, I was not referring to state-sanctioned persecution. I just meant that you are identified as Armenian and there might be non-Armenian people who look down on you for it. Here in the US, and likely in other western nations, most people could care less that you're Armenian.

Your point about neighborhoods is a strong one. People tend to mix with those of different ethnicities more in the west than in the middle east. When people of different cultures live together and exchange ideas, they are bound to pick up aspects of each other's respective traditions. In fact, that was part of the idea behind the US from the beginning. American culture was always meant to be fluid, rather than grounded in tradition, freely accepting contributions from all world cultures (though obviously grounded in the ideals of the Enlightenment) as well as offering what it can to them.

I'm always conflicted when it comes to this sort of things.. because I had an event that completely broke my faith in trusting any NON-Armenians, and an event that completely broke my faith in trusting Armenians as well.

If it wasn't for the war in Lebanon, not many Armenians would leave it.

You mean you've lost all faith in humans? In that case, what does nationality have to do with it?
