I do not disagree, but if you want to portray Armenians as good, then you should do so, but not demand others curb their freedom of speech. To counteract against ignorance, we need to educate, indeed.



SO WHAT? Who gives a shyt? I do not. Do you think the masses are this stupid? And if they are, do you care? If someone is stupid enough to believe Hollywood guff about Armenians, that's their problem. If they come up to me with those views, I will correct them and show them the real side of Armenians. It's not up to me to curtail the speech of others [ nor force them to agree to my views ]. But like I said, only sticks and stones will hurt my bones but words [ and perceptions ] will never hurt me.

Yeah. And think about all the aspiring Armo actors that now have a guranteed role as the bad guy.
Why do you think they never run out of arabs to play terrorists, or black people to play crackheads. Big money !

Actually the Armenian storyline was used alot in The Shield. I can't remember the Armenian characters name, but I think he was a hitman. Whatever victims he came across he would chop their feet off, so that became the "trademark" of the Armenians. In one of the last episodes of that season he was shot by the main character, Michael something.

Episode 5 of the Shield was also kinda surprising too, but you know what......

I know this might sound a bit harsh, but I'm actually a little glad that there are more and more Armenians on TV despite what they're portrayal is.

That just goes to show everyone that there actually IS an awareness of Armenian in Los Angeles amongst odars. How many time are we going to see the same old mexican or black gangster being the bad guy? Or the Italian mob being a target by the FBI?

I'm glad that there actually is an awareness, and guess what...... instead of complaining about this.... we could sure use a lot more Armenians in the entertainment industry to clean up the perseption hollywood kinda has on us, if all of you think it's bad. I for one am aiming at making a difference as an Armenian in the entertainment industry, so that I can bring in more people with me and change their perception on us. My current job is going to lead me to it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is.......

Be part of the solution, not the problem, or at least work with the problem to turn it into a solution.

Which is why i can't wait to start production on my feature. I don't talk about it much on these boards, but I am part of the film industry (still in a relatively obscure way), but thanks to contacts and such I'm very VERY close to getting this thing off the ground. I really hope this happens, I pray for it every night. It will be a great movie for all audiences, but particularly for diasporan Armenians. Oh, I better shut up now, I sound like a gushing idiot... but this will be great if it works out!!!

I hope it does work out for you Hyejinx, good luck on it man. I hope God does give you strength and answer your prayers for making this film.

But one thing, don't make it a film about Armenians..... at least not yet. You're isolating your market to the Armenian community and some of the friends they have here and there. I would instead market to the general mass, get well established as a director first, then push the Armenian stories once you've gained respect in the industry. Kinda like Spielberg and how he came up with Schindler's List after he was already a well established and well respected director. You know what I mean?

Cmon now, don't be like the typical Armenian that have tried to get into Hollywood, but failed and blamed it on the Jew.

It's not that hard, you just have to have the right attitude and personality and you have to know who to please to get you where you wanna go. I have like one or two Armenian friends that are already working in Hollywood and are doing well. I'm on my way up the entertainment ladder as well. Plus, there are many other Armenians working in the industry as well.
