Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

You know what's funny? When people say that they drink a lot to get drunk and have a LOT of fun. Sad thing is, they don't remember what they did that was FUN and all they get after is a hangover.

Because parents can be clueless about their kid's actions, I'm not surprised at them not knowing that their kids drink. Or if their parents do know/assume, they (parents) just don't want to get involved in their kids' lives. A lot of American families think that once the child is 18, he/she is able to make his/her own decisions. Especially as the kids go away to college and all.

Now, how many of you drank alcohol before turning 21? :-)
        I see...

I drink socially. I have been drunk before (many times). I have thrown up once (remember, drink beverages containing vodka before you have 5 beers, not the other way around...it hits like a sledgehammer). I drank when I was under 21. Just in the last Vegas trip, i had over 15 shots of Patron Tequilla in one evening. No I dont have hang-overs. My parents dont care if I drink/get drunk, as long as I'm not driving and not dying from alcohol poisoning.

It all has to do with self-control, knowing your limits, etc. It also has to do with how you behave yourself when you are intoxicated. Some people can drink and still maintain themselves in a proper manner while others become obnoxious idiots to dangerous individuals. Sitting here and analyzing underage drinking is pointless.

The only thing I am strongly against is guys who get girls drunk for "other" purposes. Much like at your average frat party.

At an Armenian party, I'd HAVE to be drunk or at least have a niiice buzz to be dancing.

If that's the reasoning behind it, I suppose it would make no sense, but there are many people out there who actually like the taste of certain beverages and like the feel of a decent buzz who never act like idiots. Where do you live? Joliet? I'm getting the impression from your posts that your region must have the lowest collective IQ of any place in the world if it's really the way you describe it.

Most people behave like idiots even with just the "light buzz" that the "good" drinkers stop at. If you're not even interested in at least achieving a buzz, then you're not drinking alcohol for the effects of it. So that leaves us with drinking for the taste of it, but that's just ridiculous seeing as to how any alcoholic beverage tastes like vomit.
If you mean most 15 year-olds, you might be right about them behaving like idiots with only a slight buzz. As far as taste is concerned, I actually do like the taste of a good red wine or unfiltered hefeweizen or stout. I also like the way things slow down a bit after a couple of drinks. Mind you, I've really never been drunk, but the loss of stress and tension that comes after a moderate amount of alcohol is similar to the effects of a muscle relaxer and has proven health benefits.

See, that almost sounds like you are bragging! And I hear this all the time among armenians ... I had this many vodka shots, that many I don't know what elses and I didn't feel it at all or I didn't throw up or I didn't have a hang over etc etc etc

As if that is a test of some admirable quality?

I started university when I was 17, and I drank at frat parties and parties at my apartment. I liked the buzz I got from drinking and the drinks tasted good, mixed drinks usually do. I'm pretty sure my parents knew I would drink at parties, but since they trusted me (obviously, after letting me move out when I was 17) it was no problem. Like loser said, it's nice to be able to relax with alcohol and since we almost always went to parties after our midterms (which are pretty much every other week for bio majors) it was great to forget about the test we just took. Funny thing is, I haven't been anywhere near even slightly buzzed since I turned 21. I've had maybe four or five drinks, literally, in the last year and a half. Of course, I don't go to parties as often as I did in college, but even when I go to a bar or to parties, I don't much feel like drinking anymore. The one, and only, time I got completely messed up was when we were at a party with some friends and the guy who took us, a friend who lived across the hall, made us drinks with everclear, and we didn't realize how strong it was until we had the whole cup full, fast. The room was literally bouncing around by the time I realized how much alcohol was in my drink. Of course, the guy got his for being so dumb because the girl who went with me threw up all over his M3. lol. Luckily I hadn't eaten right before we went out so other than the bouncing room, I was ok.
