Still Living At Home

I'm 25 and I live with my parents. I could move out tomorrow if I wanted to. Why? To shell out $1500 for some crappy apartment when most of that could be going into my savings account for a future house. I help out finanacially and physically with the house and in return I get dinner & laundry. That's the deal @ mi casa. My folks dont care how late I'm out. They dont care if we bring chicks over (as long as we behave), throw pool parties, poker games, whatever.

Guys have only one reason to move out. Bring chicks over for sex.

I guess it also has to do with the parents. If you're living in a prison cell and folks are the wardens, then I could see why people would want freedom.

This thread is kinda cool. Well, I don't really like living away from home, but I was forced to move out. When I was younger, I was almost convicted and my folks decided that I should no longer live at home. They thought I'd be a threat to my younger siblings, so they insisted that I go away for college. It's not so bad.

For sure.

But really, being away from home teaches you a lot, especially if you live with a roommate. You learn how to be a lot more independent and assertive. It also makes you realize that you can't xxxx up. You're on your own now. Anyway, I can't really explain it. It's definitely an experience.

I lived on my own during my freshman year, with two other roomates. Being away from home teaches you a whole lot. I was always the one that paid the bills and my roomates just paid me their half so I always noticied how much money we spent on water, electricity, and heat. I'd turn into the crazy parent always reminding them to turn off the lights when they leave the room and lower the heat when you leave the apartment. And dealing with the landlord..it was just too much responsibility and dealing with school at the same time, cooking your own food...so this year I just opted for the dorm life with a meal plan, soooo much simplier.
It depends a lot on how prepared you are for it, financially, mentally, and emotionally.

If that was only the case. Some of us pay rent while living at home. We just tend to call it helping the family.
