i will never go back to wiring my laptop near my computer.. and you dont have to be within a couple feet, my netgear setup enables me to have atleast 40% connection within a 100 foot radius.. not too many walls.
and youll be amazed at the places you will find wireless network available.. (ok, i used my laptop once at a red light, and apparantly soeone near by had an open netwrok!!!* hahaha

I have wireless on my pocket pc. You should drive around and just look at ALL the open networks. There's lots of them.
