Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

    This is what I have been fearing for some time now.

    The consequences on Armenia will be huge, and all I can see is negative because of:

    a) the loss of a stable economic partner and scariest of all
    b) the millions of Azeris who live in Northern Iran...God knows what they will do if a war occurs..

      Yea, but who cares so long as the hawkish policy makers in Washington have their way.

      This will further destabalize the region. Iran is an important economic partner which has been of help to Armenia since the economic collapse of Communism, but this might change things.

Iran isn't another Iraq, they have a lot of the same equipment that America has (although older) and would put up a hell of a fight, it would be one very bloody war and America has this habit of only using military force when the enemy is vastly inferior. Not to mention the US military is fairly stretched at the moment and Iraq is getting worse instead of better.
            But, we are talking about America afterall and with Bush in "power" who knows that the people pulling his strings have planned.

            Precisely my point. To us it seems illogical, to them who are hawkish it doesn't. Furthermore, remember the U.S. spy plane that was shot down in China? Remember how soft Bush was with them? Contrast that with how Bush acted against Saddam and Iraq. This "superpower" is just an illusion.

              War with Iran will only stretch the resources farther. Did you see the article in Newsweek, that American humvee factories are now working at 100% capacity. How will they pull a second war, and this war will actually have the official gov't of the place fighting back. Which like pyunik said means it will be bloody. Not only that but obviously the insurgents of both Iran and Iraq will begin helping each other.

                Many Persians (and Persian-Armenians) have now purchased homes in Yerevan. This could seem as a problem, where Yerevan will be full of wealthy Persians fleeing from Iran to a safer haven across the border. In a sense, it is happening.

                  Nooooo, that would be horrible for Armenia. Armenia just started the construction on Iran-Armenia gas pipeline which will be completed in 2008! That's huge for Armenia. Come on Bush, give it another 3 years then bomb Iran, LOL. But seriously, I don't think they'll attack Iran, but then again Bush enjoys war, so who knows.

                  Why is persian-Armenians having homes in Yerevan a problem again? That's actually really good. I think all Armenians from Iran should move to Armenia ! But true, many muslim persians are taking trips there and I've heard even marrying Armenian girls, which is definitely a problem. My friend and her bf went to Armenia last summer and they said there were too many persian men there. They went to a strip club (God, I can't believe they have strip clubs in Armenia!) and half the people there were persians! Yuck, them checking out Armenian girls strip makes me wanna puke !

                  But hayq, US attacking Iran or not, won't really make a difference in that. Also having wealthy persians in Armenia isn't a bad thing economically, they can start businesses, and get the money to flow. In general, tourism is good for any country. Lets just hope they stay away from our women (romantically) .

                    Armenia has strip clubs now? That's just wrong. Why would anyone lower themselves to that crap. That makes me look down on our country. I almost feel like just saying the hell with it, let them attack Iran and mess up Armenia along with it.. But i wont think like that I havent been to armenia yet. I plan on visiting soon. But after reading this thread, it makes me wanna think twice.
