Well, don't get me wrong, I am deeply interested in politics but I can see why so many americans just don't care about it anymore. when the contract to reconstruct the iraqi oil system was given to the company formerly ran by xxxx Cheney BEFORE THE WAR HAD EVEN STARTED, you can see that there definitely is something wrong going on. Something deeper than what we can change as individuals.
As two people interested by politics, I think we are interpelled by different aspects of it. While you may preach the lower prices globalization will bring for Americans, I will be reminding people of the 15 year old boys in Haiti who are working in toxic fumes for 11 cents an hour, making toys for McDonalds. While you will tell us that the war on Irak was beneficial because of oil and whatever, I'll be thinking about the fact that it's been almost a month and nor water nor electricity has been restored in the country.
You may be deeply convinced that Governor Gray Davis must be recalled for I don't know what reason (I don't know much about american interior politics), I just can't see it making any changes for the BIG PICTURE, or shall I say for MY big picture.
It's a matter of values and priorities. By being a scouting leader, Jahannam is teaching kids how to be better citizens, better human beings and better armenians (they're armenian scouts right?). That in itself is quiiite a social responsibility. Everybody does their part, in the "sphere" which they find more relevant to their priorities, interests, and abilities.
