Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Won A Seat

I won a seat today into the main event at Commerce Casino (10,000 dollars). I had to win a tournament against a tough field but somehow I won it and now I don't know if I should play in the World Poker Tour main event or just cash in my seat and get 10,000 dollars. If I do play it I'm going to have a chance to win about 2,000,000 dollars for first place. But it's going to be all pros and it is a 5 day event to the end. So I'm a little confused right now.

Oh and if I play the main event and make it to the top 6 out of the 1,000 people that will play I will be on T.V. .

Now I just have to make a choice, any suggestions on what I should do? Take the 10 G's or play it in the big one for a chance to win a lot of money.

Cash out! Don't put all your winnings into one seat. If you had won 20 or 30, then spend the 10 for that shot, but you can probably use that 10 and as much as I'm sure you're an excellent player, you probably won't win. Being on TV isn't work 10 either.

My 2 cents. Course that's nothing when you have 10k.

    Oh yes... and CONGRATS!!!!!!!

      Congrats!

Well - ask yourself - what would you do with $10K...if you don't get excited over the thought of this or feel you absolutely need what you can have with it (remember $ alone means nothing really...think about it)....well then you might as well play. Obvioulsy you like playing poker and are good at it - so here is you rmoment of glory...or at least your first experience that will aid you in moving up/on to bigger and better things...seems like it will be worthwhile (to play) and a thrill too - an experience in/of life - and thats what its all about...so I say go for it (and good luck!)...unless you really need the $$$ or can do something significantly better with it...

Cool... you have 1/1000 chance to win... that's like 0.1% lol, so I think take the money!
        Congrats....

If you don't cash out, I'll call you stupid forevar.

It's so funny though because the reason I played it was to win the seat. After I won it, I started thinking about how much money that is and maybe I should just get cash for it. You see, I got a ticket that gives me an entry so I would still have to give it to someone when they are standing in line to buy in for the event that day and give them the ticket for cash. Anyway, I have a few days to decide. And about the 1,000 players, I've done it before. The most was 1,330 players , I made it to the final table but of course this was online and different.

              Congrats.

I'd take the 10k ... because you seem to have a lot of online experience, and not enough pro face-to-face experience. ...and that 1 in 1000 chance is too small. If it was 1 in 100, I'd say go for it.

On the other hand, Chris Moneymaker ... played online mostly, had about 3 years experience (i think) and he won.

It's not really 1 in 1000 chance though... That would be the case if everyone had the same chance. Arin's a really good player. His chances are better than random, but it's still a lot of money to risk.
He knows best how he would fare against the other players. Moneymaker was a special case, more often you see the same people at the final tables and they're the pros.

If you need the money, take it.
If you think you're gonna think "what if" forever if you don't play and that you have a good chance, then play.
You could also set the money aside if you have the discipline and get more experience and enter the WPT, WSOP, or some other tourney later.
OR think how many smaller tourney's you place in... You can use that money to enter those smaller tourneys where you have a better chance. So, you can make more money.

                  Wow, Congratulations man!

I'd say that you gotta be true to yourself. You know yourself better! See what's better for you! If you are so confident that you know you'll be on the last table (last 6 pepople remaining, and all of them go home with money [that's what I've seen on TV]), then I'd risk the 10000, but if not, then cash out dude!

I'd go with the admin. When playing poker on a personal level with experts there is a whole myriad of psychological warfare, bluffs, and eye contact, and psyching out. If you really want to go with it then by all means but then you might relinquish the 10k.
