ok... my mother and father came to the US, my mother was a nurse in armenia, she came here, went to get a medical assistant degree, went to work in a clinic and now she works in a hospital in the laboratory AND THAT pays more then the occasional jobs or the regular job my father has held... she gets the family health insurance, all sorts of benefits, retirement plans, etc... overall and on an hourly basis, she makes more then my dad... HOWEVER, the reason why i said mostly its because we are immigrants is BECAUSE! i have heard in my child development classes (by my professors) that IMMIGRANT WOMEN usually make more money because they are more likely to take on 2 or 3 jobs, study and get a degree rather then the men who come to the US and work in their family businesses that dont pay as much... that would the average... and the there is also the reason that my father made more money in armenia then my mom, so in a place where they both grew up and had the same opportunities, my mothers jobs paid less then my fathers... my father was an accountant/bookkeeper/Mgr, and again my mom a nurse...
in the US, nurses get paid relatively well... and SO THATS WHY! SHEEEESH! people, should i chew for you too?
Again Nune, my question was not based on a lack of understanding how this happened. I was wondering why you felt the need to point it out to us. As in, do you think that its important for us to know that your father made more in Armenia? Do you feel more comfortable with that? Doesnt sound like the liberal feministic Nune we all know and love. I thought it was strange and asked.
Ah crap, you're right. I get these little things mixed up so easily. Classic stuff, Thai.
I still stand by what I said about Nune. If she ever manages to make a post without using all caps in at least one word, I might faint.
ok loseyourname, so it was ok for thai to make the thread because he is a guy, but it wasnt ok if i had done it? there are many more men in here that are so much more aggressive, however you may think they are wrting "classic stuff" but when i do it, its a direct connection to my feminism... i guess this it why i will always continue to feel the way that i do about men... stick together guys, because if you dont we may start making more money, and becoming leaders, and becoming presidents, etc...

armobarbi, i think you are reading too much into what i said... i am not applying any femimist thing here... i said that because its just what i had heard about immigrants in general... and no i do not care about what they did in armenia, this thread isnt about how i feel, it was about what actually happened, and no feelings toward it...

I think you missed what she meant again. She said your post wasn't typically feminist. She also didn't ask as much about your feelings as just asking why you shared that story with us.

Thank you! *bows religiously*
heheheeh
Its ok. She probably doesnt feel comfortable with this feeling as a self-proclaimed feminist/liberal. Nune, I meant no insult to you. I know what the thread is about.
