Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Animal cruelty.

William Thomas 78 was taken under arrest today after his neighbours reported that he was torturing small domestic and wild animals in his backyard. He was caught on camera stepping on bird' heads and torturing a squerrel. The police found torture devices and fethers, bones and furs of thousands of animals in his backyard. Some neighbours complained they had missimg animals, suposedly Willy toke care of them. This is not the first and unfortunatley not the worst case of animal cruelty

If its in his property, he can do whatever he damn well wants with animals in his property as far as I'm concerned.

You know, Im not so much sad for the animals, but more like concerned and disturbed from the fact that there are people who do this. This is one step down from homocide. These people are clearly psychopathic, and need to be locked up before they hurt a person.

Who are you to forcibly lock someone up based on assumptions? This sort of thinking is what troubles me more, naivity of law and property rights, much less natural rights.

Are you so hung up on "rights" that you overlook danger??? This man is a psychopath/sociopath. They arent safe. People who are unsafe should be locked up for our safety. ie Safety of others outweighs the "rights" of the individual in question every time. Plain and simple.

              Very well said.
I believe the Kaldor-Hicks Criterion applies here... haha! More people will be better off with having the psycho locked up; therefore their safety outweighs the rights of one psycho.

Some other animal abuse cases I've recently read:
Traffickers planned to smuggle heroin to US in puppies' stomachs

Colombian traffickers stitched heroin packets into the stomachs of six puppies in an apparent bid to smuggle the drugs into the United States, police said Tuesday.
Each of the puppies were found holding between one and two plastic packets containing some 400 liquid grams (14 ounces) of heroin, said General Ruben Carillo, head of Medellin's metropolitan police.

"We think the dogs were going to be sent to the United States as family pets," Carillo told AFP.

The Labrador and Rottweiler puppies were found in an abandoned house in a rural area near Medellin, some 400 kilometers (248 miles) northwest of Bogota.

The dogs all had visible belly scars.

Police raided the house after receiving reports about strange movements involving dogs and loud barking and yelping.

"We didn't detect anything when we x-rayed the dogs, we then conducted an ultrasound scan which enabled us to find the (drug) packets in the abdomen," the general said.

Carillo said he had never seen drugs hidden in such a way. Police also found seven more drug packets ready to be implanted and surgical instruments.

Colombian traffickers have become more sophisticated in recent years in their smuggling efforts, hiding drugs in all sorts of everyday and seemingly innocent objects such as sweets, records, shoes and clothes.
              Prong Collar Embedded in Neck

Dog's prong collar grown into skin - (Bronx, NY - US)
              Crime Date: 03/15/2005
              Case Status: Alleged
              Abusers/Suspects:

              Ronald Johnson

              Case Report

The owner of a Rottweiler whose choke collar was so tight its neck had grown around it was arrested on a charge of aggravated animal cruelty, pet protection authorities said.

Ronald Johnson, 49, of the Bronx, took the 2-year-old dog, named Bear, to a Manhattan animal control center to have him euthanized because he had become aggressive, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said.

When veterinarians examined Bear, they found he was suffering from 10 puncture wounds from the prongs of the collar, the ASPCA said in a news release.

About half the collar was embedded in the dog's neck, and his skin, hair and muscle had grown around it, ASPCA spokesman Joseph Pentangelo stated.

Bear underwent surgery to remove the collar, but he was extremely aggressive _ at least in part because of the condition - so he was euthanized, Pentangelo stated.

Johnson was arrested at March 14 and was being held at central booking in the Bronx, Pentangelo stated.

Aggravated animal cruelty, a felony, is punishable by up to two years in prison.

              This one is really disgusting:

Woman Starved Lover's Rottweiler to Death
              By Emily Pennink, PA

A woman who starved her boyfriend’s unwanted rottweiler to death after they split up was today banned from keeping pets for 15 years.

Carol Bates, 33, was also given 60 hours community services and ordered to pay £100 costs after pleading guilty to causing unnecessary suffering by failing to provide necessary care and attention to the dog.

Following today’s sentencing at Hemel Hempstead Magistrates Court, RSPCA chief inspector Malcolm Horsman, who found the dog, said it was the worst case of neglect he had seen in his career spanning more than 20 years.

The rottweiler named Buster was found dead in the living room of Ms Bates’ home in Wharfedale, Hemel Hempstead, on May 20.

Ms Bates told the RSPCA she had last checked on the dog three days before, and thought it was just sleeping.

Mr Horsman found the dog had been given dry food which it could not eat for lack of water for an estimated two weeks.

The dog was “extremely thin”, according to the RSPCA which said Buster was about half the weight of a healthy rottweiler.

Asked why the dog had not been fed properly, Ms Bates told the RSPCA it was for financial reasons and because she did not want it.

She also blamed her ex-partner for leaving her to look after Buster following their split two years before.

He does not face any charges brought by the RSPCA over the dog’s neglect.

Mr Horsman, chief RSPCA inspector for Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, said: “Obviously it is one of the worst cases of neglect that I have seen.

“Normally we can get to the animals and rescue them but unfortunately it had gone past this stage. The dog had suffered very badly before it died.

“We would urge anybody who does not want their animal to contact the RSPCA or any other animal welfare organisation.”

An RSPCA spokeswoman added: “Our message is that it is absolutely unacceptable to allow a dog to suffer like this. There is always another options."

Oh please, lose that silly utilitarian mentality. What makes you think he is unsafe, because he played rough with animals? Is there a study or evidence to suggest that somehow this is going to lead him to attack humans? Yea, the communists said the "good of the many" outweighs that of the "individual". Keep your collectivist antics to yourself.

Utilitarianism is a fallacy. Be weary of collectivist frightening exaggeration, for political probity is more valuable than bureaucratic utilitarianism, and fact more satisfying than fantasy. Utilitarianism turns all human beings, in principle, into means, not ends.

I dont have to keep anything to myself any more or less than you do. An opinion different from yours is still an opinion. Call it whatever names you like. The Communists were very right on this point. I dont understand why you would even argue it.

P.S. Killing one to save 10 other lives will always be more reasonable and ethical. (this must be from months ago...)
