Super loose player heads up who's been busted bluffing many times at table already... A7 raised to 15, got raised to 20, flop comes A J 2. I bet 20, opponent goes all-in. I had like $50 in chips left and called. Bad call? Turned out he had J 2. Who raises with that? xxxxer. I guess I should have assumed he had a higher kicker.
What do you think?

I think it's one of those things that you played ok but caught bad luck (or the xxxxer got good luck). That's poker for ya ... after all the strategy, reading, faking, betting, etc etc, it still sometimes comes down to the cards
so omni, how come you're not setting up a poker night with your little armo club followers?
should be fun.... set it up mang....
It's funny you say that actually, tonight I'm having a poker game at my house with 10 of the guys. We play a tournament top 3 getting paid. I have a casino poker table and nice chips also.

Well number one, what were you doing raising 15 with A7. Also, are you saying he raised 5 more to 20 from 15 or he raised 20 more to 35, the latter sounds right because the 5 more raise wouldn't work. The pre flop was where the mistakes were. It really was a tough situation on the flop, that is why A7 especially not suited is a hand I would never play. Now if you played a good hand like AK or AQ ,then when the A came you wouldn't have had a problem calling, and even if he did have the 2 pair, it's ok you'll take care of players like that in the long run that play any 2 cards and re raise with J2, there is no way you could have put him on that. But A7 , if he was a tight player and re raised you pre flop and he went all in on you with the A on the flop after you bet 20 , well it would have been a tough call for the extra 50. Anyway , this isn't a big deal, you shouldn't even worry about this hand at all, just worry more on knowing what to do in ever situation, what cards to play when , and what to do when in terms of betting, checking, raising , or just limping with certain cards and then knowing exactly what to do on the flop and of course that depending a lot on who your opponent is.
....sorry for the run-ons, I have to go so I typed that as fast as I could , hope you get it.
James Woods could probably be a good contender if he keeps at it. He supposedly has an exceptionally high i.q. Around 180, I think. Speaking of James Woods, did you ever watch Videodrome, Siggie?
omni, heads up, with a-7 i'de raise from either position...
If i was the BB and the loose player raises me, im coming right back at him with a raise..
of course there are exceptions.... chipstacks.. bet sizes.... but generally speaking... A-7 heads up.... ide raise with.... and if a loose player raised my BB, you HAVE to protect your BB.... that's just a given.
this is provided its actual heads up.. and not 6 ppl folding from the raise heads up...
but yeah.. hey omni... here's one for you.
what do you think this guy was holding?
both me and him were playing tight aggressive all tourny..
and then we have this hand..
