If she is being abused physically, and she is still staying with him, that means there is something wrong with her, probably rooted in her past.
a) I wouldn't call it "wrong." Many accept to take abuse, not as a pathological behavior. Not because of a pathological past! "Victim" psychology is a very complex!
b) Yes, only probably!

I'm sure any third rate psychologist can identify this as a sign of previous abuse by a family member or other, a lack of father/mother figure, what have you.
Yes, only third rate! A first rate psychologist would know better!

No normal person would or should tolerate abuse, unless of course, they have problems.
I'm surprised to see you use the word "normal" with such ease, almost irresponsibly!
What if I find someone else when looking for you? My soul shivers as the idea invades my mind.
You can take her to a center to talk to other battered women. She can hear their stories. Maybe they can convince her otherwise. They may understand how to help better since they've been through it before.
There's on in the sfv... Valley Trauma Center appropriately. I'm sure there are others, but this is the only one I've heard of.

I told you all I could think of, this is just a sad and dim looking situation. The girl is the one who needs to save herself, you can't really do it for her. Be a good friend, but don't kill yourself trying to save someone who isn't doing her part.
