I think true love is one of those things that each individual has to define for themselves.

For me, true love is when two people compliment each other so well, they respect each other and love themselve, that they have no need for anyone else. Again, to be realistic you have to account in human growth, and dissagreement.

To me as long as you have someone that understands you then you have happiness then you have "true love". So thats my definition.

According to my english teacher (and I tend to agree), Romeo and Juliet was not true love. They were "in love". It was just chemistry, attraction, call it what you wish. People who fall "in love" usually fall right back out. True love is based, as many here said, understanding, caring, etc etc.

But then again, this is what my english teacher says.

that was obviously sarcastic. Danielle Steele (called her Diane before) is a joke. Shakespeare is a genius, I just don't like him too much. His arguments with the petrarchan poets are cool though, I enjoyed those.
